I think that Win ME has more bugs than XS...

Win 2k is quite good in comparison to ME.

they should make better Linux packages..

all releases I've seen still misses some to be a good replacement

Ubuntu comes close though
with XGL and Compriz

I don't like ubuntu...I think it's a kind of windows dress as linux

If a can suggest you good distributions, try slackware and then gentoo
