It's on the "To Do List" adding a better CAPTCHA system... but this task still pending for lacking of free time.

I hope to add that before final release.

Well if you have this on your todo list anyway it may be a good idea to also look at this nice one

Actually I was thinking of something better... I wanted to port phpBB 3 way to use CAPTCHA which is working in a way similar to plugins system, that means that adding a new CAPTCHA would be really easy.

Thanks for suggesting, unfortunately I'm still stuck at the first step (lacking of time)!

Yup that plugin method is a better idea, the only downsides to this system is that these "out-sourced pluggins" like reCaptcha have no style settings in ACP (not yet anyway), people still have to edit this manually if it looks bad in certain styles.

Worst thing about it is that even these methods don't stop spammers from making registrations (right now i'm thinking to give the DNSBL services option in acp a try to see how that would work)

In fact I hate too tough CAPTCHA, because we are not any more in the SPAMBOT era, but we are in the SPAMHUMAN era!

Almost all of the spam on this site is carried out by humans.

I agree to all the above, I even regret that we are forced to use registrations in stead of having an open board structure where everyone could just post as a guest to start out.

I am a newbie here, but I have rights to an opinion and I hate these things! What is it with Forum owners don't you know these things lose you members because people just can't be bothered sitting for minute after minute being told by a computer that they inputted (is that really a word?) the numbers, letters, squiggles, pictures etc, in wrong, the list goes on. Everyone seems to be Hell bent on trying to see who can put up the most unfathomable and unreadable CAPATCH CODES in the Universe. Not only can't robots read them, but also neither can humans in many cases. A friend told me about the one at at !SPAM LINK REMOVED! This one really takes the biscuit; see if you can fathom it!

Tony.
