English Chit Chat - Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?

Anyone got nothing to do and would like to waste their time translating a file for me from English to ?

There's about 750 lines, and most of them are the typically short instructional stuff, just like Icy.

There's no pay - just a BIG thanks for your help! And "your" credits added to the file.

I did try to translate it to American - But I got stuck with the spelling!

Well without making any promisses, since I'm still in bed 20/7, I am willing to take a look and see what I can do in Dutch (at least it's not as big as icy 2.0 [I'm still hoping BrandsRUs will do that one])

Where is it?

Sincerely, probably only Spanish and Italian.

Hehehe!

I don't want to be banned as a "Spammer" for hijacking Icy Phoenix with something else.

I'll PM anyone who wants to help, the details and a link to the file.

Well I would possibly edit first and then throw you a couple of yellowzzz ...but remember you're in chit chat, so I would need a very good reason l_rofl

already looks familiar and small enough to accept the challenge

BTW ..to save me some time posting a pm reply too ... It's not for me , I have another plan to try and finnish (possibly hyjacking way more than this site ) (if i wrote hyjacking wrong it must be english )

PS.. So i'm only allowed to translate and not pull your chain about style buggiezz??? ... just kidding

buggiezz? The only buggiezz I have are browser buggiezz

According to WC3 validation anyway - -

I'm of two minds about changing the menu buttons to tabs, so that there wont be any images involved that would need to be created for each language file.

Maybe I need to add a forum too - Know any forum software that you could recommend?

LMAO... SMF ????

About a small style bug (possibly browser issue) .. the max-/mini-mizing of some (2?) blocks at the left cause a width problem and make the max/min image jump to the left in IE9, if you want a screeny let me know

Well, at least it would be different - And no doubt another pain in the butt!

The Top 100 Games is deliberate because I wrestled with pulling the option field in and decided that I'd rather see something like:

A Valentine's Day Memory Game

Other than:

A Valentine's Da

It probably could be moved to the bottom in its own table and be given more space - just like phpBB arcade does - But what the hell - Sometimes practicality overrules aesthetics.

The "other" one - - - - Mmmm, do you own a camera - and if you do - has it got batteries in it? Because you're no doubt seeing something I can't see.

No! I haven't been drinking - well not much anyway - YET!

CTL + Print Screen

Open any graphics editor - even "Paint" and paste as new image.

About printing screens, in Win7 there is "Snipping Tool" which just does the job... in FireFox you can use "Fireshot" as a plugin, but it just works for FireFox...

In Windows you have CTRL+PRINT (whole display) or ALT+PRINT (selected window).

Finally you may like this website: Browsershots
I really used it a lot in the past... but be careful, sometimes it could take ages!

Grazzie, and Danke respectively,

Just what I need - Umlauts, Imlauts and lots of wiggly things to test the UTF-8 and then how to switch-em!

So I have burdened you with the task by sending both of you a PM.

Don't rush with it - If it's finished by tomorrow night - That'll be fine.

Yeah!

Well Roma wasn't built in a day, or so they tell me!

But if they had bulldozers then they could have levelled the ground before they started, and probably got it done a heck of a lot quicker.

Seriously,

I appreciate what you guys have committed yourselves to, and in true IP style I have a couple of code-changes that I would like you to apply. And I'm going to give them to you now, rather than wait until this toy that I'm working on takes off like a rocket. (Wishful thinking?) and then be outdated.

I have to go abroad for business for a week, I'll try to continue when I'm back.

Honestly I would suggest to create arrays of vars instead of creating so many vars... it's not efficient for many many reasons, please consider it.

You're a great guy Luca and it's really appreciated no matter how long it takes.

Re the arrays - When I started this exercise there were about 300 hard-coded language strings, I didn't think that I was going to get to where it is today.

And I actually had thought about it, But! - - - - Maybe next version.

1.how to translate this , or i dont need to translate it
Code: [Hide] [Select]
$l_ranks00 = ''.$l_less_than.' 50 '.$l_games_played.'';

2. can i use <i></i>

1. No don't translate any variables.

2. You can change the look as much as you like for your fellow countrymen. But note three sections at the bottom just can't have apostrophes because it's used by javascript too.

Limun,

When I said by "Tomorrow Night" in my first post - - I was ONLY joking...

Now seriously,

You are too quick for me because even though I've made a language-switcher, I would have to upgrade my work site for you to run a critical eye over Croatian.

For me to do it with XAMPP would be as of much use as an ashtray on a motorbike - So bear with me my friend for a couple of days until I get something organised, and then I'll answer your PM re anything.

Hey Costa!

Would be appreciated and I'll PM you a link to the file.

But what I really need to do now is to start a forum (If I could only find some decent software) j/k

I'm having a lot of fun with this and for anyone who wants to contribute can have everything that I've done, and that includes MG too. (I don't mean throwing MG in with it!)

We could link to each other and maybe take over the internet - Pigs might fly too!

But I think the most important thing I have to do now is to create a support forum, where anyone who wants to get involved can.

Limun, has already given me a Croatian interpretation, and for that I am ever grateful - But if your only language is English, it does create some problems.

I Mean!

croatian

All Double-Dutch to me!

j/k Limun... Boom!

And that site you're on is about Beta v1 and I think I've just about completed Beta v658? And I'm not looking forward to upgrading that site - because it's going to be a lot of manual work.

And the reason you can't see that page is because it's the Admin template.

In the next two or three days I want to bring this thing to a stop and set it all up properly on the internet. And that means a Public Release type set-up and go on from there.

If I keep playing with it - It'll never happen.

So stand by, because when I do it - and if you don't have better things to do - I'll post the details and make you an Admin and you can peruse the whole thing - Maybe have a bit of fun?

Tomorrow - Icy Phoenix has to put in place - Then the rest - So if you don't hear from me for the next few days - I'll be like MG - On walkabout while I do it.

You're a good man Josh,

Because you haven't started, please download it again because I've just updated it 28/01 with the language converted to arrays.

To everyone else - This doesn't affect what you have, as I'll convert them all when you have finished.

Now I got to put it all together.

mort [ Wed 30 Jan, 2013 13:00 ]
Post subject: Re: Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?
Okay everyone, to make things a bit clearer, I have some good news and some bad news regarding where everything is up to!

The bad news is - I took MG's advice and converted the whole shebang to $lang['vars and created arrays for the language files.

The good news is, It doesn't affect what you are doing.

As I'm just about to launch my Icy Phoenix site and brag about it in the "Check my site out thread", I don't want you to, and neither do I expect you to do things twice.

So if you make available by PM or whatever the files you are currently working on, when you have finished - I'll convert them and send them back to you so that you can have the honour of uploading them and attaching all of your credits and everything else that you deserve without having to be stuffed around re-doing something that you never signed up to in the first place.

Again, Thanks guys for what you are doing, the World is a better place with people like you.

mort [ Thu 31 Jan, 2013 12:33 ]
Post subject: Re: Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?
Because it's not phpBB, even though It's starting to look like it in the files, it works a lot differently.

I put it aside for a couple of days while I was setting up IP on XAMPP, and as a matter of fact - I'm uploading it right now, and will finish it off tomorrow.

Now back the Arcade - The lang switcher works fine on every page except the footer and that only happens on the index page at index.php without any arguments or actions? It's probably because of the way the footer is loaded without qualification each time one goes back to the index itself. So what I need to have a look at is do I need to add or redefine something in the footer before it loads.

Dunno, one of life's little mysteries that I'll have another look at in the next couple of days when I can take a fresh approach to it.

Anyway, thanks for the link and the thought - Cheers!

Post subject: Re: Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?
MG,

I think it would be better if you stick with what you have because then I will know where everyone is up to. There are not many extras in the New file, but I have it sorted with separate blocks as "New" and "New-New" and If I throw them out there, it's going to make it difficult to keep track of what has been merged and what hasn't.

You may have an easy way of keeping track of these things - But multi-tasking is not one of my better abilities at the moment.

Mighty Gorgon [ Sat 16 Feb, 2013 11:45 ]
Post subject: Re: Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?
You should put those files on GIT. It would be easier for everyone.

mort [ Sat 16 Feb, 2013 12:39 ]
Post subject: Re: Anyone Interested In Translating A Non-icy Lang File For Me?
MG,

I've been trying to keep out of IP as much as possible with this thing because I get the feeling that I could be encroaching in a lot of off-topic stuff and have tried to combine this with PM's - bitzagames.com and it's not working all that successful.

So if it's OK with you, I know who has what in relation to New and New-New and who has the "Old" original files. And life would be a whole lot easier if I just posted all of the changes here.

I don't expect anyone to make any changes other than to translate the lines I give them - Because I'm pretty sure that if that was to happen it would soon fall into a hole!

I'll do all of the arrays and merging the New strings into the old ones and anything else associated with the file - because some of it has to even be split to a "Settings File"

So if it's OK by you - Lets make a feed of it here.

As for GitHub - I've probably made about 200 changes in the last three days - And I'm busting my guts out to finish this before March 9 - Where it will probably take another direction but should at least be stable enough to start a clean slate in somewhere like GitHub.

March 9 - Keep that in mind.
