I'd not notice that my chat doesn't show the date and the time.

Well, I'm a little confuse respect the chats, because I see that there are two chats availables: one default with the forum, and another as a plugin (I never couldn't install this plugin because my hosting).

So I think the chat is in my forum is the Shoutbox, I'm not sure. Anyway, the chat doesn't have any date.





My forum is

The chat plugin was done on request for another user that had been using it for a long time, but it is not very interesting to you.

I apologize, I don't understand you What do you mean? Your chat (in this forum) shows the date and the time (actually both). Mine doesn't show the date and the time. And I could not install the chat plugin...

I'd really like to install this chat, because I love that it has a different rooms!

The chat plugin is different. It allows an external chat to connect to IP users. So not the same as here.


There should be a chat available in the Menu?

There is a chat available in the ACP, to set through parents block; I'm using this chat, and this chat doesn't show any date, any time...

When you add/edit a parent block, chat ajax is one of the options:


I'm not able to install any chat plugin in my forum because the hosting. I posted this problem in this topic: http://www.icyphoenix.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9593&highlight=

I'm changing of hosting, but the other is free too, so I don't know if the new hosting allows me to install this plugin

Oh, you mean the Ajax chat.

It's not a plugin, it is installed by default.

Yes, I do. Actually there are two default chats in the package; I've changed it, but I like more the other one because it has differents rooms.

Both chats are as options in add/edit parent block:

And that is the Ajax Chat that is not showing time and date for you?

I have a fresh install on my server that was downloaded off of this website so I should have the same version as you do. My ajax chat works just fine with time and date. See below. I can not replicate your issue. I am sorry I can not help.

Well, the chat still doesn't show time and date... My forum is working now, and you can see the issue.

I downloaded the newest version of this forum, so I don't know what is the problem

By the way, I have a new member in my forum who is helping me to test it; I could open a private room. There is a problem with it, because when I click "private room", or "public room", the forum goes to the top, every time that I do that. I don't know how to explain better

hey on a side note, you say it has different rooms. Are you referring to being able to make a private room? I was unaware other than private it had others? Then again I never used the chat either.

As for the chat going to top when clicked, mine does that too.

I'm not sure to understand what did you say, translator doesn't translate very well

This chat has a little message saying "Haga click sobre el Nombre para iniciar una sesión privada" (Click on the user nick to open a private session). So I clicked on the name of the other user, and open a private room.

Ah yes. Ok I understand now. I used to use a chat mod on phpBB that one could create rooms. I got confused here for a minute.

I am not sure why the time and date do not show. Both of mine do ( Live server, and on a test server ). And mine does scroll back to the top if I click the room name. That is kind of annoying. I'm not sure there is a fix really. If you have a regular chat room going and talking in private as well, as soon as you click the public room again it is going to refresh thus getting scrolled back to the top.

Maybe Luca can tell me how close I am on my guess?

Live server means that the server is one used in a datacenter. If I sent you to my website, it would be a "Live Server" available to the public to view.

Test server is a server that I run on my very own computer. It is not available to the world. Only to me. It is private.

And I am not so sure that page refresh can be modified. I think it is all the cache deal refreshing the page on click. I could be wrong though. For this, we await InformPro and or MightyGorgon.

I have tried everything I can try on both of my servers to get the time and date to not show like yours is doing and I can not under any circumstance replicate the problem.

Well, I can't understand everything that you say, because I don't know about programming, just a little.

But I appreciate your help, and I'm waiting for MG and Informpro too... Informpro said he is busy right now in an other job. He will take a look after he finished it.

I think I explained it earlier, the chat plugin is a legacy leftover that we should remove altogether. It's not integrated at all in Icy Phoenix, it is a separate page and runs on the side, so it's not a good solution. The only reason I ported it is because we had a phpBB3 user who wanted to migrate to Icy Phoenix, but really wanted to keep his whole chat history etc.


Live server: something that is on 000webhost, or similar, when you have to use a FTP like FileZilla.

test server: usually means your own computer has PHP installed and runs it.

Why does my chat look different than yours? The same chat. My chat doesn't show the date and time, but yours does.

I mean, this chat doesn't show the date and time, and you say is because this chat is not integrated, and maybe this is why doesn't show the date and time in mine... But your chat does show the date and time, even if this chat is not integrated etc...

No, I think you misunderstood me.


The "bad" chat is the plugin one, that can be found in plugins section. This one should not be used.

The chats you are talking about are integrated in Icy Phoenix, are can be used interchangeably. It might be a good idea to merge both, actually: show messages from the main room from the normal (non-ajax) chat.

Do you have a test account for your forum I could use?

Oh, I don't have a chat plugin, because I never could install it. Actually, I posted asking for help, but I didn't get an usefull answer.
