Old Bugs - [DEV] Can't Set Permissions In Forums And Another Thing - Bug?

Hi there!

Maybe i found a bug!?
Let's see...

I'm using icyphoenix (git, please see my signature for details) and i've noticed: I can't set permissions to the standard forums.
Don't missunderstand me: It is a fresh install and no(!) changes are made!

So, as standard set permissions, i've noticed that guests can write and open new topics in the forum. Is that normal?
I tried to change the permissions under acp>forum>permissions>"Test Forum 1" (the second one, so not the category but the normal forum!)
Then i click for "Public" and then "Advanced Mode". I changed from "ALL" to "REG" this two points: Post and Reply.
After Submitting comes a error displayed:
Quote:
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') GROUP BY (u.user_id) ORDER BY u.user_id ASC' at line 4 [1064]

SQL

SELECT u.user_id, u.user_level FROM ip_users u, ip_forums_watch fw WHERE u.user_id = fw.user_id AND fw.forum_id = 3 AND u.user_id NOT IN () GROUP BY (u.user_id) ORDER BY u.user_id ASC

BACKTRACE

FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 289
CALL: sql_db->sql_error()

FILE: includes/class_notifications.php
LINE: 307
CALL: sql_db->sql_query()

FILE: adm/admin_forumauth.php
LINE: 111
CALL: class_notifications->delete_not_auth_notifications()

But the permissions are now set in ACP!
And guests can further write and open up topics in the forums.... -.-"

Well, firstly i've got MySql 5.1 and not 4 and secondly this error also comes up if i use only submit w/o using "Advanced Mode" before.
Incredible.
Same problems are in all the other forums which are set as standard: Reporting and Recycle

- Another thing:
In this case i tried to start a new topic as guest and misspassed the "Visual Confirmation for Guests".
Ok, I thought it's no problem. But after displaying the error site (i've given a mistaken code and so on) i have to go "back" and voila, no text anymore!
I think this could also be possible if a registered user is written 2 post to quickly. Didn't test it.
But if so, it's not good.
If the text is present again it would be more comfortable and my user could not be upset.
I hope you know what i mean?
Because if i write one text after the next one, and not less, and i submit it for just displaying an errorpage which steal my text, so i would be very angry!
There should be a better solution for it, i think.

Hope i could help a bit with my eventual bug tracking.
Thank you!

Greetings, Ghostsearcher

Here makes it clear that the system permissions are not completed: Link

I have been helped by a professional coder in improving the CMS experience by adding some AJAX in pages and blocks management, now CMS should be almost complete, just the new AUTH System still missing.

We must have patience, a little more time...

Regards.

Can I suggest that you use the public release of Icy Phoenix and NOT use an uncompleted Beta while you are experimenting and learning Icy Phoenix.

If you are going to continue to use versions from GIThub then you should consider yourself a BETA-tester and report the bugs you find - Not try to get it running as a "Working" release version of IP because you're only wasting your time.

And I'm not talking just about Icy Phoenix, because usually there is no support given for any Beta Versions of anything - as they are intended solely for testing purposes by those who want to join in - and the reporting of bugs.

Hi there!

Yes, i was reading the sentence about AUTH, but i didn't understand what he exactly meant. *ahem* Ok, now i got it. -.-"
I'm really sorry!

About beta and bugs: Well, i thought it is the right playce, but obviously not. Because of that in the "Bugs" Forum here:
Quote:
Only Staff may open and discuss bugs in this forum. If you think you have found a bug in Icy Phoenix please report it in General Support forum, it will be moved here if confirmed.

Hmm i guess now, this is not for the GIT version. Damn, i'm sorry again.
Just trying to help.
Please don't missunderstand me: I'm not searching for support. I'm just trying to tell you what i found and which won't pretty work.
Especially the point with Visual Confirmation for Guests and the blank site, if the user click back to his post, which isn't exists anymore. ^^
Well, uhm ok, i understand now that is the wrong forum for that.
But can anyone tell me please where i can go as beta-tester?
It's a bit confusing to find the right way. -.-"

For now i can say, icyphoenix is pretty cool and i know atm much more about that.
Learning by doing every day.

I'm sorry and i wish you all a great day, Ghostsearcher

Don't get me wrong.

I just didn't want to see you get frustrated with looking for answers when possibly only MG can answer any of the questions.

Bug Reports - Maybe here - because I have no idea myself with what one is supposed to do to report bugs for DEV versions.

post them in general, and we will confirm them and look for a fix and most possible move them to bugs forum.

I have a stupid question to ask.

Why would/should bugs for a BETA version of icy phoenix be posted in "General Support" ?

One would think that "General Support" is reserved for the current public release of Icy Phoenix and not be filled with useless information that the search engine will pick up on irrespective if it's for the current release or the beta. ?

Does not make sense to me.

right

but some users don´t have access to VIP forum, so they can´t post in the beta release post.

just leave a comment in title , that it´s about dev release, and we will probably move it

Them MG really needs to create a "Beta" forum so that anyone who wants to test and report on beta versions of IP can post what they find without going through this kind of nonsense.

Hi all!

Title is changed to [dev] and WORD for a new forum like "mort" says. Would be more comfortable and more plausible for users like me.
beta ftw

Thanks for reporting, I'll have a look... I'll improve the Bugs section as well, so all such kind of discussions can be posted and properly discussed there.

Ok, so here is the bug correction :

OPEN
Code: [Hide]
  1. includes/class_notifications.php

LINE 299, FIND
Code: [Hide]
  1. empty

REPLACE WITH
Code: [Hide]
  1. !empty

Yeah, just that can break all permissions systems.

LoL... so cool.
Thank you very much for this solution.
Works for me, too!

What a small sign can do...
