Thanks Joshua for blowing the whistle!
The catch-cry is: MG is so busy these days.
GOOD - But he's so busy supporting other forum software that he doesn't find the time to attend to his own?
And like all of the "Other" support people here who keep disappearing - - - Why do I bother?
Hey Lopa,
bringing on project of this size is really tough when you have only a couple of developers and only a couple of debuggers. I'm not trying to be understood, but as I already mentioned I prefer lack on support than lack on develpment. It's a trade off. I believe if I better use my time for code than also support could be easily afforded. I know I'm not actively supporting users right now, but there aren't any serious issues and bugs in the latest stable release, so what's the point?
It's open source, when someone decides to use this software he (at least should!) knows that support is not guaranteed. Of course I don't like see the interest in this project decreasing, but what else could I do? Trust me, I'm doing my best, but how can you see it's not enough to satisfy everyone... so I think it is still better to continue coding leaving some topics unsopported insted of answering few people (and so let development dying).
If you have pro-active solutions feel free to suggest them.
Regarding "other forum software" it's a matter of learning curve: looking at other software structure allows me to improve my skills and get suggestions for future developments.
Currently my free time is allocated for 70% to Icy Phoenix development, 20% in learning new things (including phpBB 3), 10% in taking care of this website (support, update, improvements, etc.). Please don't suppose that I have lost the interest in this project because you should evaluate my efforts and interestes by looking at the dev timeline, not measuring it by number of topic replies here.
