Post subject: Joining 2 Boards ( Help Needed)

Hi

Got a small problem.

I´m trying nto join 2 Icy .53 boards , so they use the same userstable.

It´s just, so the users don´t need to register twice for the same domain.

They are 2 different subdomains.

Any idea on how to archieve this?

If I understand, you want to use 2 boards different but on the same domain and where users won't need to register twice, once on each board ?
I guess that, firstly, you'll have to set the same cookie for both boards ... But on how to share users on 2 table . . . I can't help you s'ry.

both boards are using the same DB. just diffrent prefix.

the cookie i´ve got sorted allready

there must be a way to make them share the same users_table

I made some research and it seems that the best way ( at least, the only one I find which seems to work ) to do it, is to use view on your SQL table. Take a look to the last part of THIS page. I'm sorry, it is in french but steps are clear enough for don't disturb you. Just check the last part where it talk about user table.
I didn't understood all yet but nvm ^^'

This topic is in Italian, but you can have a quick look at it anyway.

You can ask to the Italian Staff to translate it... I think someone will help.

The main problem is that if your users already posted there is no easy way to port also the posts. I did it once for my old support site... but it is a lot work and it isn't worth unless you have really good reasons for doing that. (And also some free time or some money to spend for someone doing that for you!)

Thing is. The first of the two boards is my old live site.

it will stay as it was.

the second one will be started from scratch. I just want it to use the same user table, so they don´t need to login twice.

Edit:

Does´nt work. Get an error from sessions.php

If I understood the topic, it's basically the same idea but passing by files modification when mine only use SQL commands *o* IMHO, using only SQL is a bit better because you won't have to edit files for every versions of IP, but that's just my opinion ^^ Ty for the link MG anyway, it will help me too to better understand IP ^^

try with deleting the prefix of ip1_users & ip2_users(=> ip_user) and modify the constants.php for modify the users tables
