would this help you out?

http://www.icyphoenix.com/viewtopic...ion+description

(for you it would mean the german file has to be edited too )

EDIT: ...just incase ... this is what you are looking for in lang_main_settings.php:
Code: [Hide] [Select]
$lang['Default_META_Description']

and while you're at it and there already you may also want to change the content of this line:

Code: [Hide] [Select]
$lang['Default_META_Keywords']

That's where I searched first but could not find (in my older local version), so instead I searched the files and to make sure it was correct I searched this forum and found Spydie's answers

BTW good seeying you use your real nickname now, thanks for informing me in pm

No prob.

Well, but i think there should be a function for it in the acp menue. I mean, that's easier and would be more comfortable to the look&feel of icy. Icy is so mighty and really high adaptable, that's why i'm saying i miss that, too.
Just my mind. ^^

Hmm, maybe anyone should give this hint to mighty gorgon. Can i? ... and where?

Greetings, Ghostsearcher

Would probably be a lot easier if the Meta-Data was included in its own language file?

meta_lang.php for example would possibly stop this question from being asked over and over again as I've noticed the question has been asked many times.

Can AnyBody make a Viedo TUT or a TUT for me but this is very Hard

Ghostsearcher [ Tue 28 Jun, 2011 12:45 ]
Post subject: Re: My Forum On Google
Not hard. Please let me help you: Go to your root with an ftp programm and edit following file:
"(your forum path - root) /language/lang_english/lang_main_settings.php"
Open it up and look for line (round about) ~30. You will see this string:
Code: [Hide] [Select]
$lang['Default_META_Description'] = 'Icy Phoenix is an highly customizable CMS based on phpBB which allows you to create a dynamic site with a lot of features for powering web communities.';

Just edit this string to your favor.

Please notice that you have select the right favorite language. In my case it is the folder "lang_english" and "lang_german".
That's all.
Any questions? Just ask and i'll help you.

Greetings, Ghostsearcher

Google takes time to crawl your site again and find the new to be able to correct it ...I have checked your site some time ago and found the changed codes (keywords and description)

I have after my txt change delted my Cachses

Post subject: Re: My Forum On Google
Well, i don't needed clear the cache but i'll also did that and it works. Your changes are fully working.
Let google some space to recrawl your site to affect changes. This might be up to 3-6 months. (at me)

Addendum:
Maybe you can add following string:
Code: [Hide] [Select]
<meta name="revisit-after" content="2 days" />

So, future changes will be set faster.
Just my mind.

Yes otherwise I would not have been able to see it, now I guess it's a matter of time, I think there are ways to request a new crawl but you would have to find how to do that yourself because I can't remember .

I guess it's better to move all these info in the DB... since spiders are not multilanguage and users are not reading meta.

Added to To Do List.

Yes it is! Styles & Templates > Edit Templates > "Icy Phoenix" = (root folder)

Edit your ".htaccess" and other things through that too.

I think if you submit a sitemap Google will crawl the site faster.

Check the latest version of IP: there is Go in ACP -> General Settings -> Server and you'll find:
SITE_META_KEYWORDS
SITE_META_KEYWORDS_SWITCH
SITE_META_KEYWORDS_SWITCH_EXPLAIN
SITE_META_DESCRIPTION
SITE_META_DESCRIPTION_SWITCH
SITE_META_DESCRIPTION_SWITCH_EXPLAIN
SITE_META_AUTHOR
SITE_META_AUTHOR_SWITCH
SITE_META_AUTHOR_SWITCH_EXPLAIN
SITE_META_COPYRIGHT
SITE_META_COPYRIGHT_SWITCH
SITE_META_COPYRIGHT_SWITCH_EXPLAIN

Well it should be with the right lang variables, I just put it this way to make it clear =D

Edit: ah, didn't noticed the second page ! MightyGorgon the mightiest

I don't think crawlbots still care about these meta tags ... I read somewhere that they were just listed as a word in the page.
