How To Switch From Smartor To FAP?

Hi there, I got a fansite up and running:

Using the Smartor's Album. 
However, I think I want to switch to FAP but I really don't know if it's worth the trouble.

So what I wonder is this:

How much work would this entail? As you can see I'm using a modified (I modified the template myself) version of Smartor's Photo Album. 

[b]Do I have to redo all the work and will I loose all the picutres / albums + descriptions when I migrate to FAP? If not, what to I do to avoid this?[/b]
