I was told you'll need to alter a table in your database for these changes to really take effect.  That may fix your problem with the news block, but I'm not sure if it'll fix the problem with another language.  I don't see how the Greek language would work differently than the English language in that case either, lol.

Since I'm no pro when it comes to databases, you should wait for someone that knows what they are doing to help you alter tables. :(
