Post How To Create Custom Fields In Posting Body?

Hello,

Could anyone help me to create custom fields in posting body?

This will be a very good option to implement by default in icyphoenix, like custom profile fields...

Thanks you very much.

you want to create a custom field in the posting page so after someone has written a post they have an option to add some more detail... ?

then the output of that will show in the view-topic of that post somewhere..?

Yes, this is the idea... like fields of subject and menssage body, but personaliced according to the forums. Like the mod off lopalong, but with fields:

Where do you need that field to be shown?

In viewtopic?

You need that field for each posts or just one for each topic?

Hello,

The fields in posting body only in new topics. The idea will be that you can guide to the users to public information. For example:

A new user register in icyphenix.com and answer for help. Probably this new user dont public the necesary information to help him better ( url, paths instaleds, mods instaled....etc). But if we can put fields to fill with this information will be better.

Like a mod of lopalong but with fields...

I think it will be a good option in posting body, configurable in the ACP, like custom profile fields.

Thanks you.

It is not easy doing that on a per forum basis via ACP, because that would require extra fields added to the Database, or a brand new table which includes all the new fields and retrieve those fields where needed.

Should you need the same fields on all forums, that would be much easier, because you can add the extra fields directly in the topics table and add an input field when posting.

Did you test the Bugs Tracker section on this site? That is something that with some modifications could fit your needs?

Hello,

Yes the bug tracker is very good.... if could be modified to send the posts (bugs) to forums, like it was a normal post?
