Switching Over

Subject: Switching Over
Hello. pardon the noob question, but i am looking to change over from a phpbb3 forum to a full icy phoenix site. I do not know much about phpbb or icy phoenix, other than IP is build off phpbb. Is there a special set up steps i need to take inorder to install icy phoenix? I would like to not loose the info already on my phpbb3 forums.

Thanks.

Regarding porting users from phpBB 3 to Icy Phoenix is still not possible, but it will in next version.

i think you should really await a reply from an icy user (as i m not) but i think the new version is now live tested here prior to release  if this is what MG refers to??.. i really don't know

EDIT: meantime you can have a close look at icy here:

As Joshua correctly pointed out, currently it is not possible to port phpBB 3 users and posts to Icy Phoenix, because of some core differences.

The development version of Icy Phoenix uses a DB structure and encoding very similar to phpBB 3, so porting users and posts should be a lot easier. Unfortunately final release is still not planned, because we still need to finish a couple of core features before being able to release it.

I have converted a couple of phpBB 3 forums to current stable Icy Phoenix release, but the job isn't automated and it is time consuming. Unless you have really good reasons for converting now, I would suggest you to wait next version of Icy Phoenix (keep in mind that it will require months before the new version will be out).
