I am in the process of setting up my Icy Phoenix forums and have hit a snag. I want to make it so only certain groups are able to see certain forums. I also want people who are not logged into the site to view certain forums. Could someone explain to me how to do this? Thanks.

you can edit the permissons for every forum

well i tried this, but how do i set it so groups are only able to see certain forums? I see several settings i can change. The settings i see are:

None
All
Self
Private
Mod
Admin

Now i am fairly new to icy phoenix, but i dont think there is a setting in there that lets me set what group can see what.

is n t it just like in phpbb3 Homieg? ... first create a group in group management .. then assign a forum to the new group?

To give special permissions you will need to set AUTH to PRIVATE and then select "Access Allowed" according to your preferences.
