Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
Hi, one of my portals currently runs on Integramod 2, I'm looking to move it to Icy P.
One Idea I have is to first convert it to a standard phpbb2 forum then convert to phpbb3, then to Icy P, does anybody have any advice/suggestions on this?

convert to PhpBB2 and from there to Icy
PhpBB3 isĀ“nt Icy convertible
best way IMHO is : Integra -> PhpBB2 -> Icy 1.2.0.27c -> Icy 1.3.0.53a

Re: Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
The last time I did a conversion was from PHPBB-DE to integra, all I did was dropped all the table s I didn't want but kept the tables I did such as user posts, users, PMs, PM text, forums, forum text etc. etc. then exported the DB then installed integra and then dropped the tables i had saved in the db and then uploaded the saved db which put the bits back in place.
I did screw some text up in some posts but seemed to work fine since, in fact its been running for the past 6 years now LOL so I may try the same.
The only difference this time is I'm going from a phpbb2 setup to a phpbb3 setup, ill do some test runs first with a copy of original DB

phpBB3 doesn't come into the equation if you're upgrading an existing phpbb2 database to Icy Phoenix.
And I think spydie said that?

Re: Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
Icy Phoenix (or so I found out by "Reading") has a conversion application in its install folder to clean phpbb2 SQL and prepare it for IP.
The usual result for most of these conversions is, if you are not aware - only convert forums, topics, posts and users, and maybe some other basic stuff.
One can only assume that if you were to do this with a copy of Icy Phoenix - You would only have to take the inserts and drop them into your already existing DB while making sure the _PREFIX is the same as what's already there.

Re: Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
Hi Luca, its IntegraMOD 1.4.1 that I'm looking to convert over from with my other site.
I know bits about coding but that's it, just enough get by really.
Ive done a copy of the original db so I can practice without messing the site up.
I am a little green when it comes to the coding but always seem to suss things out in the end
Ill strip the database down so is a basic phpbb hopefully then follow your procedure.
Thanks for the help

I haven't been on here long literary a week so not had a chance to read a lot of whats on the site as Ive also been doing the other site and had to learn that as a lot of features are different to what I'm used to using, and Rome wasn't built in a week

That's what I meant when I said "Icy Phoenix (or so I found out by "Reading") has a conversion application in its install folder to clean phpbb2 SQL and prepare it for IP", and assumed that clean_tables_ip.php was there to do just that.
And Rome wasn't built in a week
I know, but you weren't in charge of that project!
I'm just being facetious!

Re: Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
Question.
Is your PhpBB3 instalation an update from PhpBB2 ???
When normaly the original db structure from PhpBB2 should be still present.
you could try to do a copy of your db, install it in an seperate database with an copy of your forum.
when you upload only install folder and execute install/database_update.php
afterwards, delet all files of your root folder ( excluding config.php) + adm, includes, blocks, docs, template and themes folders and upload the icy ones.
then execute install/install.php and run through all options one by one.

Re: Converting From Other Portal System To Icy?
We really need conversions script. I know that there's a script from Icy to phpBB3 but apparently, we can't go the other way ... Let's add that to do the to-do list ... So, for now on, until you have so knowledge of "reverse engineering" (meh, not really) or PHP skills + some phpBB3 tables knowledge, there isn't an automated update script.
