MG Thanks for trying to help me but I figured out the problem by mistake. For some reason the rewrite mod doesn't seem to work with sub directories.

my site was http://www.mrwizard516.com/forum/ I changed it to http://www.mrwizard516.com/ and now it works perfectly.

He he he... maybe you had just to change your base root...

Code: [Download] [Hide]
  1. #This may cause isues with subdirs and so I have not enabled it.
  2. #RewriteBase /

But what is important is that you have fixed it...

Just for knowledge... you may even try to adjust the BASE path if you wish... and then let me know! :mrg:

I think you might have misunderstood me or if you didn't I'll explain just incase someone else comes across this problem.
What I meant was that my original path was as follows:

I had my server setup where my home directory was
C:/xampp/htdocs/forum.
I moved everything from the /forum folder into /htdocs so the new path reads
C:/xampp/htdocs

One minor question. Which is better for a server, Windows XP Pro or SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10?

No I don't think I misunderstood... that option is meant to change the root path of your forum!

Anyway, what is important is that you have solved your issue.

Regarding the server, I don't really know... but I think Linux is better...

Thanks for the reply.
I was using Suse Linux 10 but ran into problems trying to get some features to work, so I switched back to Windows XP. I am currently waiting for a copy of Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 to come in. Maybe when I get it I could pick you brain for a little help. I am not really familiar with Linux so I could use all the help that I could get.
