Post Custom Portal Block With JQuery

Hello again

I m trying to create a new block and i am stuck a bit...

I made a block tha contains some content that scrolls with Jquery Scrollable....

I've added to Overall Header

Code: [Download] [Hide] [Select]
<script src="http://cdn.jquerytools.org/1.0.2/jquery.tools.min.js"></script>

<!-- mousewheel support -->
<script src="http://static.flowplayer.org/js/jquery.mousewheel.js"></script>

<!-- styling -->
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://static.flowplayer.org/tools/css/scrollable-navig.css" />

Then i've added the style to my templates css and at last i created a block tpl and added inside

Code: [Download] [Hide] [Select]

<!-- navigator -->
<div class="navi"></div>

<!-- prev link -->
<a class="prev"></a>

<!-- root element for scrollable -->
<div class="scrollable">

    <div id="thumbs">

            <div>

                <img src="http://static.flowplayer.org/img/demos/thumbs/thumb5.jpg" />

                <h3><em>1. </em>An example title</h3>

                <p>
                    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Proin et felis eget
                    tellus pharetra porttitor. Praesent dui arcu, egestas quis, adipiscing a.
                </p>

                <span class="blue">60 sec</span>

            </div>

            <div>

                <img src="http://static.flowplayer.org/img/demos/thumbs/thumb6.jpg" />

                <h3><em>2. </em>An example title</h3>

                <p>
                    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Proin et felis eget
                    tellus pharetra porttitor. Praesent dui arcu, egestas quis, adipiscing a.
                </p>

                <span class="blue">80 sec</span>

            </div>

            <div>

                <img src="http://static.flowplayer.org/img/demos/thumbs/thumb17.jpg" />

                <h3><em>13. </em>An example title</h3>

                <p>
                    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Proin et felis eget
                    tellus pharetra porttitor. Praesent dui arcu, egestas quis, adipiscing a.
                </p>

                <span class="blue">300 sec</span>

            </div>

    </div>

</div>

<!-- next link -->
<a class="next"></a>

<!-- let rest of the page float normally -->
<br clear="all" />

<!-- javascript coding -->

<script>
// execute your scripts when DOM is ready. this is a good habit
$(function() {

    // initialize scrollable
    $("div.scrollable").scrollable({
        size: 3,
        items: '#thumbs',
        hoverClass: 'hover'
    });

});
</script>

I placed the block through CMS and images, arrows and and colors are correct but no effect applies....I suspect that the javascript at the bottom of the block.tpl is not executing and i cant make it work....

Any ideas please? I 'm stuck !!!!

Thanks

~Alex

With these type of things you would probably be better off adding all of the script etc to one folder on your PC, create an html file in the same folder with all the paths, markup etc and test locally first.

That should eliminate a lot of problems before you attempt to run it live. Or at least it will make it easier to sort out what is not working once it is added to Icy Phoenix.

I 've allready done that and it works flawlessly...!

I can't figure out what is the problem...Maybe a conflict as spydie mentioned above...

Let me check it once again...and i'll  come back with results.!

Hey borbo,

If memory serves me correctly I think I had this problem once where I had to add an actual path to the script and whatnot in the html for the block.

Can't really remember, but it was something similar.

Yes I solved it,

But what it was is still a "Black Hole" in the brain-box.

If you haven't solved this one yourself, and to save me a lot of time, zip and make the folder you have on you PC available, and I'll give it my best shot to help you with this. That's if you want to of course?

Edit:

Anyway, mine works - - - -  If this is the same one you're working on.

Dunno! Depends what you started with.

And I don't know if I should give it to you because I did ask for your WIP and you didn't deliver!

Just Kidding! Probably full of errors anyway!

ALL of this by the way is "Local" and doesn't drag anything from the jquery website, and also the query.tools.min.js is not actually the one they offer for download on the main page - so don't mix them up.

Copy the jquery folder to the root of your forum.

Paste the whole jquery.html in your CMS html block - Test - Move and Re-Path the links if you desire etc - Remove the surplus html.

And it should be good to go!

PS: You should also be able to test it on your hard-drive when you unzip it.

And another thing! It's fixed width - And if you need it "fluid" - It's all yours and possibly the jquery forums (If they have one) to sort that out.

Hahaha! That's usually what happens when you pull links on-line and have no way of adjusting anything.

knekz? Is that a brand of cheese, wine or soap?   j/k

Kneks IMHO is a WIP and at best a BETA that should at this stage be avoided in a live environment until elpulgas has had the opportunity to finish it and to fix it so that it "Mirrors" the CMS blocks that exist in the default styles. If you want to run with it - Better you ask him to have a look at it, because 1. I don't know what stage it's at, 2. I swore on a stack of Micky Mouse Comics that I was not going to get involved with making things work with other peoples modified themes again. Because in reality, it's their problem.

No you don't! - It's free for the public to play with too. And by the way it can be made to "Float" in width, but it takes a lot of fiddling to get it to sit right for different templates. And then it's not perfect!
