Post Re: Problem With Importing Database

Spydie THANK YOU VERY MUCH! The site "works" now, it has all posts and information. But in 5 minutes it collapsed ( lost CSS, couldn't find forum, or go into ACP, cyrillic also isn't supported ) but when I cleared the CACHE, it was working again. Now I disabled the site - and I am awaiting on any info how to go on from this. Do you think this crashes are happening because its not updated Software?

Thank you again for all.

My Friend,

This is getting too painful!

And I can see it going to lots of questions and lots and answers that are really not going to be of benefit to anyone else reading this thread.

Only if you wish, Please make available the zipped copy of your "Old" database before you modified it and PM a link to download it.

I'll also need your admin name and password you used with that database - And I'll do my best to sort this out for you on my own computer.

Hello, the cache folder has 777 permission on.

Anyway I gave admin control to forum on MORT, so he will look up what a mess I did there.

Thank you spydie.

It seems I will indeed be in debt many drinks :)Anyway I have to wait now, what will be, because my hoster is uploading bigger files ( mine upload limit is max 10MB ) So we will see.

Your host is Bluehost.Com and I've used them quite often at different times?

They don't restrict file size with FTP? otherwise there would be no point to FTP?

If you are uploading using the cPanel uploader then it's much the same as uploading with http upload - and that does have limits.

Do you use an FTP programme such as FileZilla to do your uploading and downloading to your site?

Well I CAN upload any big file, but I cannot import it as a database. That is max. of 10MB, and they've told me that they do these things for customers.
So its a waiting game every time.

I assumed that you were talking 10mb MAX any file?

I reduced your db dump from 2,184,000 to 147,565 (15mb) by removing 1,837,535  useless inserts that I can assure you - you wont miss.

So now we could split it into two and you could use phpMyAdmin etc, - But Spydie is right, mySqlDumper fixes all the problems with big dumps.

Anyway, back to the topic in hand.

I note from visiting your site and generally looking into the background - you have a mix of updated files and old files?

In other words - you don't appear to have upgraded as it is required, so the dump I have is still pretty useless to apply to what you actually have at your site.

I'll give you the modified dump and let you get on with it if you wish - Other than that I would like to see what you have actually done in updating your site before I commit to helping any more, and for that I would need your FTP details.

Here's a picture of the progress, and as for the ????????????? - They are not a language problem (Cyrillic etc) it's a quirk that appears sometimes when something is missing, and is a substitute for "Spaces".

Edit:

My friend for some reason I'm having problems reversing 127.0.0.1 to slavopedia.com so I'll probable have to end up cutting up the dump into sections.

But what you can do in the meantime is go back to a fresh copy or your old backup and do this, because you have to remove the www. from the server_name - before you do a global replace with slavopedia.com

BTW: www. is not a part of your Domain Name and shouldn't be used in script.

Find:

www.slavic-unity.glavo.net

Replace with:

slavic-unity.glavo.net

Find:

slavic-unity.glavo.net

Replace with:

slavopedia.com

Find:

http:_/_/

Replace with:

http://

Upload it, and then follow all of the upgrade docs to upgrade it.

Edit2:

Ok you have the dump in a PM - Just remember that you MUST run the upgrade as per the instructions in the docs of IP and you must at least run database_update.php before you do anything else.

As for the ??????????????????????????

You have some twit on your site that likes to do that along with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see that there is a mod to stop that.
