Idea, moving posting button in viewtopic
I wonder if it may be a good idea to move the posting button up a bit ( directly under the topic ) instead of much lower (including the right side pagination).
This may be an important reason why users quite often us the quote button?
Just an idea

Well what you post (the image) is even more confusing when I test it, try using those buttons after writing a message in the quick reply box ( you will loose the message! )
EDIT:
So buttons below the quick reply box may make the user think they are the submit button?
To me that would only mean that there is an extra reason to do the edit and move them up

Yes I think I do... they are not there to use for QR anyway so why would they have to be below QR?
It even confused me when I tried using QR and it made me loose the message I just typed

The problem is Josh, the more things one adds like "Ratings, Useful Topic and Similar posts" pushes the New Topic and Reply buttons further and further down.
And then there's "Share this and that" and the whole thing gets pushed further down!
If anything it should look something like this and any of the other stuff should be below it.
And if you ask me, the ratings should have a global OFF switch and while the others are optional too - they would be better as MODS and not part of the system.
Or the ratings could be five stars at the bottom in the "User Block" - And not another template that just fills up more space between the post and the "Reply Button"?
And some things could just go - like the phpBB Mod template in the codebox is something I'm sure that everyone would hate to see disappear?

Exactly what I meant and what Limun's image also shows (just with a different template) Mort.
I don't really know what can be switched on or off per forum or globally in Icy TBH... since I use Nanny software myself
A vote would be nice

Done!
I think that if one was to put the buttons in the middle of the post text area, there are those who still wouldn't use them because they think that you have to be reminded about everything just written regardless of the fact that it's the post above the reply.
But yes, they do need to be under the text area.

Thanks for voting Mort and Limun too.
Even if we could combine this with my latest post /idea in the development section it would save lots of scrolling IMHO..both before and after pressing the reply button
Link to that topic not included because I think not all members have access there.

Just press the "End" button on the keyboard - that will take you to the bottom. Else get a camel and some binoculars, a water-bag and a cut lunch and trek off to find them.

What I mean is what is described in the development section:
Reply >> Submit >> Redirect to your posted reply (phpbb)
Reply >> Submit >> Redirect to top of the last page in the thread (IcyPhoenix)

Re: Idea, Moving Posting Button In Viewtopic
I think I'll switch to phpBB, then I wont have to worry about it. Icy is heading that way so I may as well get a head start.
