Post subject: FAP CUSTOMIZATION - Tag System Like On Flickr

I was just thinking, it would be cool if FAP had a tag system like on flickr. When uploading an image a user would enter in 1 or more tags (e.g., "London"). Afterward, when another user views the image in the photo album, the "London" tag would be a clickable link, and clicking on it would bring up all uploaded images in the all albums that also have the tag "London". I guess it would be a little similar to the search function..

I seem to recall someone mentioning this somewhere before .... was it you?

I think that the description field it is enough...

Why should you have an extra field when you can use picture description? Just for the clickable tags?

It isn't so quick to do if you are not a PHP guru.

You should create a DB field and perform a DB search each time you show a picture.

It is like Similar Topics on this board while viewing a topic.

Yep that would defenitly a great Idea. That way we would have an alternative to sorting the pics in hierarchies like we do now.

Well, i'll just throw my opinion out there.

It isn't the feature that's going to revolutionize FAP or anything, but yes, it would be a nice feature to have. Flickr and a lot of similar sites are doing it now, and it is a rather useful feature (from a users standpoint).

Just gives alternative ways to categorize images. I guess it depends on the site. It is useful on Flickr and such sites because they have a broad array of photo categories displayed on their site.

My site is an automotive website, we have car photos (and photos of hot chicks), so tags are pretty limited. Obviously I'd have tags like make and model's, but not a huge array of categories. The kinda' tag that I'd most likely have on all my photos are ones which people would think of typing in into a search field anyway, where as the tag system is a great system to sort photos amongst larger categories.

The tag system wouldn't make a huge difference for everybody, but i can see where it would be useful. If I had the skillz I'd code it. =)

Now I have a better idea on why you may need this.

I'll think about it... even if in my opinion it continue to be a redundant field... since you may insert your tags in the description field.

I think that a tag system would be very good.
Description is ok, but I can change this only by mysql: is correct?
That would be a great customization to change bye web, as simple as write a comment.

No you can edit picture description using the edit picture feature already integrated in FAP. Of course you should have the right for doing this.
