I want to request if there is any way that i can put a Thanks button for all the posts of a theme and not just for the first.

Nope... this feature should be coded... and would require some extra SQL in viewtopic... and I won't code it, because I don't want to charge viewtopic with other unnecessary things.

It is´nt all that difficult to port an .27 Mod to 1.3

I do believe that there were two "Thank You" MODS for phpbb2* - One did what the one here at IP does - The other had options for both or one or the other.

IF! you can find the one that does both, I may just look at it to see what needs to be done to it for IP. :shock:

Is this the mod you say?? I am not sure because there isn't a DEMO of the MOD, but i have seen another one mod that is for the first post only..

Ok! Daniel, I have something that may also interest MG and want to run it past him first. Because if he thinks it's worthwhile to add it to Icy Phoenix - Then he can do all the hard work.

because a lot of times you help to fix a problem but can´t receive the thank´s for it, because you posted the fix in the Topic there the question (problem) was.

I understand perfectly what he want´s to archieve

I've got something working in IPv1.2 (Which for me was the easiest way to start) and it does what I think you want it too.

MG has re-coded and "moved" so much stuff in IPv1.3 that I am having some problems working out what is where and coding some sections of it in. :(

If all else fails - I'm going to ask MG for some help. :mricy:

But!

That one only covers viewtopic and is hard-coded with db_ prefixes etc. We're working on one that does a lot more and is switchable in the ACP.

The only problem is that I'm waiting for MG to show me how he re-vamped the applicable Admin files because he's moved so much stuff around and changed so much of the script - He totally lost me.

If and when the MOD is finished, it should be a good example of how MG now handles the catrows and block vars in forum_admin.php and forum_extend_admin.php.

While I can see what he has done - working out the whole scenario left me somewhat bewildered. :(

Anyway, he did say he would have a look at it this weekend. So we're getting closer. ;)

As for the code - I think it's better if MG sorts out the Admin problems because he did make it quite different from what we're all used to.

I had another look at that rotten MOD today, and still couldn't work it out. :(

But your other post with the tutorial has hopefully thrown some light on what you are up to. Other than that - - I've gone as thick as a brick! :mryellow:

That mod is a total mess... it needs a recode.

I have just made some basic adjustments and fixes (for example the common thanks switch is used, so there is no need to add another one).

I have added some constants and removed some unuseful code.

I have also reformatted the code and the TPL.

What I would do:

• I would remove the buttons to thanks and I would just add a text link (avoid unuseful graphics elements in mod... or we need to have graphics for all styles!).
  
• I would remove the popup feature (it is awfully coded and unuseful because it doesn't update the post view).
  
• I would optimize the SQL which currently aren't... and those SQL will add a lot of charge to viewtopic.
  
• I would add the "cleaning" parts to functions and integrate them properly into Icy Phoenix functions (this to avoid that some mess remains after users / posts deletion).

Apart of that... the mod should work at least in a basic way. :lol:

I don't have the time to improve it further now, because I'm working on other stuffs.

I knew it was rough and probably a Hackers "Dream" - But I didn't want to take it any further until I could see that it could in fact address the Db from the admin panel just to turn the "Bloody" thing on and off. :lol:

You have done us all proud MG, and we do appreciate it. Now I'll have a look-see and see if I can make all the recommended changes and present it as an acceptable MOD.

I'm also beginning to agree with MG too that the thing is going to give the DB one hell of a workout once users start congratulating others excessively, and is not something that Icy Phoenix needs. :(

But I have started on something else which in my opinion does basically the same thing under a different name. And I don't know how long this one will take me to finish, but I do prefer this to the Thanks Mod.

I agree with you and MG on that.

It´s already dificult not to overcharge the db operations. And if a thank´s mod start´s crosschecking everything it will drive us all crazy. And maybe timeout or crash in the worst.

I also like the idea of a Karma Mod or Reputation.. I previously posted in that topic about porting that mod to the new version... If that is lighter and you can do it, i like the idea!!!

I've finished the Reputation MOD. Now all I have to do is drag out all the changes and do fresh install, put it all together and write up the Docs for it. ;)

Nope, it won't work. In standard Icy Phoenix only topic_id is stored when thanking a topic. So if you need to thank single posts you will need to add DB fields (and maybe a new table), alter a couple of SQL and then edit viewtopic and its template.
