Zuker hi, i worked out what the problem is with my find but no idea how to fix it,
i am 100% sure that its a bug in the way it reeds the data from foum_id
let me explane how i came to this idea!
my fourm is here
www.dark-asylum.co.uk/forum/ (live data)
www.dark-asylum.co.uk/forumB/ (test data)
i did clean install for both forums so both forums are identical in each way! except data MYsql
so i started on fourmB first! to my surprise i could see the drop down menu with Form test 1 played around with it for sum time works get ,
right so that means it nOT config problems !
so i went back to fourmB and deleted Test Forum 1 this were problems start to happen! so i tried to make new forum as i have in FORUM (live data)
it has now stopped working there is no drop down menu whats so ever and i cant get it back!
any help would be great!
with thanks

Zuker, Sweet mod man, Thanks. Working perfectly.
Well, beside that it doesn't increase the post count for the forum or user.

Hi!
Anyone knows how to quit the "image" of the posts? Its just a link, not an image :S , to the original news.
TIA

You got the "error" only with that image or with all images?
In first case, the image can be corrupted, in the second case try to delete ".htaccess" from your "ip_root/files" folder and sub-folders.

buldo, the problem is that the link is not a image. It's the feed source.

I misunderstood...

You need to make a change to the lang_main.php file. If you look at the end of the edit you have to make in this file, you'll see two links to
http://thecomichaven.com. Change those links to your website. For instance, the link I would put in there would be
http://MYSITE.com/images/rssIcon.gif.
Just make sure it's relative to the root of IP. After you make this fix, you won't see "image", but you'll see the RSS icon.

So, what's the official status of this mod? Is it, or is it not compatible with the latest version of IP? Can anyone confirm that it works? Thanks in advance.

I know you guys are sick of this mod. I have installed the mod and i have 2 problems. 1 of them seems to be the one everyone is having issues with.
I am using IP .27c with no other added mods.
1. The "Newsfeed source" link in the ACP does not work.
When open in Firefox it gives the following page error.
Quote:
Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
2. Somewhere along the way I messed up the forum navigation links. Is this a setting in the ACP I am missing?
*Update*
I have turned off gzip compression, And now it loads the page with the following error.
Quote:
XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 8 column 67. XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 8 column 67.

Oh, I didn't know Xmen was receiving that error via the ACP by clicking on "NewsFeed Sources."
You're going to have that problem Xmen. I have the problem as well, but all that page really does is give you a few examples of sites that have RSS content you can deliver to your website. Before I found IP, I was using ezPortal and had FIND installed there as well. "Newsfeed Sources" in the ACP didn't work for me then either. All you need is the "Input Newsfeeds" function and your set.
Chaotic,
I hate to bug you about this again, Does your news feeds auto update? Did you have to do a cron job? This mod works, but I can get it to auto feed, I have to manually get the feeds.
BTW, I went to your site, I like the setup.

It used to update itself with CRON. I used the CRON feature in my cPanel.
And there is a fix for that NewsFeed Sources not showing. I believe you have to upload that file into another admin directory on your server within Icy Phoenix. I'll take a look to see where I put it the last time I used this MOD and get back to you.

Im not to concerned about the sources. As far as the cron job, I willl have to wait, I switched hosts and I just realized I am not allowed to edit crons in cpanel, So therefore I will have to contact the host, Or try to make a psuedo-cron work.

Post subject: Re: Forum Integrated News Delivery Fopen
looks like my host have closed fopen on there servers ! is there any way around this?
or can give me host that does ?
see there reply below!
I checked your issue in detail. In our server allow_url_fopen is disabled. If enabled, allow_url_fopen allows PHP's file functions such as file_get_contents() and the include and require statements can retrieve data from remote locations, like an FTP or web site. Programmers frequently forget this and don't do proper input filtering when passing user-provided data to these functions, opening them up to code injection vulnerabilities. A large number of code injection vulnerabilities reported in PHP-based web applications are caused by the combination of enabling allow_url_fopen and bad input filtering.
This is the reason why rss feed is not included. Many developers include files by pointing to a remote URL, even if the file is within the local system. For example:
php include("http://example.com/includes/example_include.php");
With allow_url_fopen disabled, this method will not work. Instead, the file must be included with a local path, and there are three methods of doing this:
1. By using a relative path, such as ../includes/example_include.php.
2. By using an absolute path (also known as relative-from-root), such as /home/username/example.com/includes/example_include.php.
3. By using the PHP environment variable $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'], which returns the absolute path to the web root directory. This is by far the best (and most portable) solution. The example that follows shows the environment variable in action:

Hello again folks. I noticed this thread and I have had version 1.0.3 installed but always had a problem with only the "Read more..." show. It won't post the message?
So I installed this version and found I had the same issue as this:
I get this error bc the folders "common" and "adm" do not exist. SO I added them naually and get this error....
Template->make_filename(): Error - file ADM_TPLnewsfeed_sources_body.tpl does not exist
SO is this mod for phpbb3???
When zero asks about phpbb3 (I'm running phpbb2) this was posted after:
Quote:
Icy Phoenix Customizations
this forum is only for icyphoenix mods and not for phpbb3
it is not a phpbb3 modification
It appears that zero didn't understand the answer and so didn't pursue a cure for the problem so here I am asking the same question because now that I have installed this newer version I have that same exact issue as zero did.
Can anyone tell me what I did wrong to cause this to happen? All I wanted to do was get the feed to post at least most of the message before the "Read more..." shows at the bottom.
Please let me know!
Thanks!
Edit: I fixed all the issue buy changing the code in both the admin_newsfeed_sources.php and admin_newsfeeds.php files as follows:
Find
- // start the page output
- $template->set_filenames(array('body' => ADM_TPL . 'newsfeed_sources_body.tpl'));
-
Replaced with
- // start the page output
- $template->set_filenames(array('body' => 'admin/newsfeed_sources_body.tpl'));
-
Your changes to this mod are outstanding. The look and feel of everything is top shelf material.
Now could use some really needed help setting up an automatic feed. My site is a Windows hosted site and I have NO clue how to set it up so the news feed posts automatically.
Please left me know......

could you please stop hijacking icy phoenix threads...
Sorry.
I would have posted a new thread but if you had read through this one you would have found that this is the topic and only topic targeting "Forum Integrated News Delivery V1.2.0 - Spitt Release" with many different issues.
as you are only using phpbb2
I truely believe that I'm not the only person using phpbb2 who has posted threads here
please start a new topic in english chit chat as you are going to confuse supporters who wish to help thinking they are looking at icy phoenix posts...
Sorry for confusing you. All my posts are in English and from what I can see almost all the posts are in English?Once again if you had read through this thread you just might have read this...
This mod must be rewritten to make it compatible with icy, when next stable release it's out i'll try to play with it

Please allow me to explain myself as it's obvious that there's some confusion and or comprehension issues.
I have come here many, many times and found solutions to issue related to mods I have installed. In most cases, I have been able to find the solution and as a result there's no need to post anything. On the other hand, sometimes I come here and don't find the solution so I find a related thread that I always hope is not too old and post in that. Multiple threads relating to the same mod is a waste of memory and can make some people frustrated searching boards trying to find the answer they need.
In almost, and now I have to say in almost all the cases where I have asked for help, the folks who reply are doing so in an effort to provide positive input. Whether it be by providing a link to a better thread, suggesting another site or a possible solution. I would have to say that I did not expect a reply such as this.
If I have offended you in any means then please except my sincere apology because that is not my intention whats so ever. I have only the up most respect for all the support folks here as I am one who appreciates their efforts. Coding is not easy and I have very limited ability's when It comes to tweaking mods for my forums or the others I manage.
With this all said I could still use help solving my issue and if you could post some code that that might help I would really appreciate the support.
Thank you for you time,
--Jim

also it might be helpful to post that you are using a phpbb2 version as I am sure if anyone can help they will...
but then again as icy phoenix is based on phpbb2 and you are adding a lot of mods to you phpbb2 version would it no make sense to maybe upgrade your site to icy phoenix...

Thank the reply. I have thought of converting to IP but with the main default template style I'm using and all the work that went into making look like it's supposed to I really can't. I was able to find probably the only really phpbb2 style Evil Incarnate. The designer Dragonsfury has been monitoring my progress in an effort to restore it as close to original as possible.
Here's what it looks like so far
http://cscoroner.com/phpbb2/portal.php.
His original was posted for Nuke and he lost the phpbb2 version so I took it upon myself to find one. I did but it was heavily modded and posted for Integramod. Most of the switches were turned off and css were removed as well. I'm not a coder so each task that would normally take a few minutes would take me hours but I'm pretty damn proud of what I've accomplished so far I Dragonsfury likes what he see. He's been working a lot with vBulletin as of lately and I'm pushing him towards a Evil Incarnate for that because I built and manage a vBulletin site as well.
Getting back to this threads topic,
If you or someone could please give me some directions on how to get the feeds to post automatically I would be really grateful.
Thanks again for all your efforts and continued support.
