It should be possible to exclude forums for the recent topics block. In "../blocks/blocks_imp_recent_topics_wide.php" there is a query for the field "md_except_forum_id" but this field doesn't exist in the database. So you can't configure exceptional forums for the recent topic block.

I'll fix it in the next release.

I did a little bit of research work regarding this issue and found out, that the last stable version of IM-Portal is 1.2.2b. Currently i'm testing on my local testboard if i can update the version used in phpBBxs. Maybe this will fix the problem.
