Hi all.

phpBB XS may be configured to be very fast, and to use a minimum charge of SQL.

I've created a file for doing this quickly.

How to use this file:

Download this file
Upload it in your phpBB XS root folder
Login as Admin
Run this file
Choose your option
Enter the ACP when you have finished (just to make sure that che CACHE of config tables is emptied!)

Remember that using this file your configuration settings will be changed, and if you have set some specific parameter then you may have to setup it again!!! You should make a full backup of your CONFIGs tables (phpbb_config, phpbb_config_mg, phpbb_album_config) before running this file...

Remember also that these few suggestions may let you gain some other speed on your phpBB XS.

Disable Thanks Topic
Disable Topics Ratings
Disable Topics Notifications
Disable Access to pages you're not using (this could save you enormous resources)
Disable Statistics page
In Portal use only the blocks you really need and CACHE all blocks that could be CACHED... such as text only blocks or rarely updated blocks.

P.S.: this file includes some vars you may not have on your XS, because it's based on new XS release... so, don't pay attention to some errors you may have in executing this.

hmm..

what kind of settings does it change?

I don't feel like figuring out what settings I had and stuff

if it's something I didn't really configure I'll give that thingy a go

This script sets some features to OFF, so you are able to save SQL charge to your server... try it, and let me know!

Another thing that may save you bandwith (not SQL), may be using the new style Aphrodite Text, which is included in the latest XS. This theme is really light, and could speed up page loading for mobile devices with slow connections. My advice is to set this template as the default one.

Mobile devices are great with the lo-fi... I use it a lot!
Today I'll try Aph Text.
