It could be a caching problem.

Try to verify again permissions on all your files and cache folder.

Try to completely disable the caching system.

Try to disable precompiled posts.

Sometimes even the forum index is not loaded....

You may also try to increase the memory limit in your php.ini (if you can).

Hile, Mighty Gorgon!!!!

Yes, yes, yes!!! You are the only master!!!!!!!!

I verifyed many times the permissions but they were right.

I tryed disabling the cache several times in the past few days and nothing happened.

I tryed disabling the precompiled post many times in the past few days and nothing happened...

And right this morning, at 6 o'cock I got an inspiration and modified the memory_limit from 8M to 12M. As I haven't access to php.ini, I did it by adding this line at the top of ingludes/page_header.php:

Code: [Hide]
  1. ini_set("memory_limit","12M");

And it was kindda miracle!!!!

Now I came to post the solution and, man... You got it before I did!!!!

I don't know why I need more resources now...

Thank you, indeed, Mighty!!!

PS: Hope that line in the page_header.php can stay there, as I don't like doing it through the .htaccess... Don't know exactly why, but I hate htaccess!!!

He he he... great you solved... even if you got the solution before reading my post!

I don't think you can set the memory limit of PHP using HTACCESS... so you can leave that there... or better... include it in common.php.

Sorry, Zuker, for such a long delay in answering!!!

You write that line, now not in page_header.php, but in common.php... Only in common.php!!

Greetz!!

I have come across a totally different problem that causes the site to go blank after an upgrade. Its after assigning 666 permissions to includes/def_tree.php. If I replace it with a clean file, and keep it at 644, everything is fine. So perhaps something not quite right with the categories hierarchy install, but being such a huge mod...

Further to that, I have noticed that if I remove this from the top of def_tree.php:
<!-- template .//includes/cache_tpls/def_tree_def.tpl start -->
and remove this from the bottom of def_tree.php:
<!-- template .//includes/cache_tpls/def_tree_def.tpl end -->

keeping the generated contents within, I can view my site again (but keeping def_tree.php at 644 thereafter to avoid the template lines being generated!)

I have also noticed that in the default XS install, functions_categories_hierarchy.php has: //define('CACHE_WORDS', true);
So theres not even any point setting it to 666 (as instructed in XS install note) unless it was changed.

I've never had this problem, and always used 666 (The Number Of The Beast) as setting...

About caching words you are right but using 666 won't damage anyone!
