Hi everyone,

I updated my forum to 1.1.0.15 today.

First, I backed up the database and restored it too  BUT in order to make it restore, first I had to delete each table from the database in phpMyAdmin and leave db empty (this should not have been necessary  but it was).

The installation process seemed to go OK, although the FTPing keep timing out (I don't know why, it just did).

This is the index page now:> badeci found at: http://europeclubitalia.net/xs/index.php

Please note the two left hand columns and the old image up in the header, ie. the picture to the right hand side of my logo. After the installation I thought I would have to manually insert this?

Why does the forum look like this?
Do I need to run the installation again from scratch?
Could these problems be related to the fact that an activity mod had been installed & subsequently removed?

I hope I find answers to these questions before my users wake up and shoot me

Thanks in advance :mricy:
Julie

Hi, Kangura
I didn't understood you completely about your upgrade procedure, but it seems you somehow managed to upgrade to final Icy (FTP timeouts are NOT related to Icy, that's 4 sure :mricy: ).

About double menu problem you have, it has been discussed more than a few times I think, but nevermind, here it is one more time: you have double menu because on your home global blocks are enabled (and navigation menu is set as global block), and then same navigation block is added to that page again (3 columns page). Solution is to either disable global blocks on your home, or to remove navigation block from 3_column.tpl.

Hope your users are still asleep

oh pepi  I'm an Icy person who knows nothing about html (but I'm reading a book on it)
Sorry but this time I'm can't even attempt your suggestion... i might give it a try after a few chapters...
Updating my forum took two days and making my users happy might take an eternity.
I call it 'my forum' because it was born via my pc, but the heart and soul of it are in this forum here :loveit:
Thank you once again for your help and a big thankyou also to everybody involved with this beautiful project :mricy:

Hey, Kangura, it's nice to hear things are getting back to normal :P
Now for the next step, as pepi already told you how to modify welcome block (or any other block, just get handle of html, you can do whatever you want  ).
Language installation is much simpler. All you have to do is download (or make) translation, and upload lang_xxx directory (xxx is the name of language you are installing) to /language directory of your Icy. Language is instantly available to your users, they can choose it in their profile, and to make language site default, you have to go to ACP->Board Settings, and set it as default there.
You have some translations already made for Icy here, and some other languages are nearly finished (brandsrus is completing Dutch, I'm somewhat near finalizing Serbian), but if you want, you can make your own translation, just follow The KuKa's guide here.

Go get them :mricy:

Hi Kangura, great to see that you solved all your issues even without "precious difus" !

As you see we are very lucky having these helpy Staff people here such as omarska and pepi (just to mention the two who helped you in this topic)...

Is Australian a language with so many differences from English?

Off Topic
:
I have seen on your site that you like Nightwish... I like them as well :P

Ciao Luca :mrblue:

You're right of course! omarska and pepi are not only helping fix my forum but also
encouraging me to do great things. My wish is that the forum will be beautiful for when difus returns.
That thing I wrote about Nighwish is his welcome back present

About languages...
No, there's very little difference. Australian English spelling is closer to British English than North American English, eg. colour, centre and defence.

Pepi

Hello again Pepi,

The users of my forum need to read it in different languages and a welcome which is personalised would be more meaningful.
I've stuck a html block in today and it worked OK, but my welcome will need to be language specific.
I've promised myself the forum will good by the time a certain friend returns from an extended absence
Thanks for your ideas!
Ciao bye_03
