I would like to change the logo of my site but it is a “gif” and no a “png” which is the default format of the main page logo.
How and where can I do that?

how would I do this in black pear;. The template.cfg file in the template folder has no such line [$images]'sitelogo'.

Don't know about black pearl but some templates will have more than 1 cfg file.
Check if there is not another .cfg file
