Icy Phoenix

Well, I took this mod, originally designed by Shawn McBride and played around with it till it worked with FAP.
I've added size on thumbnail too.

I was very surprised to find that this mod wasn't more popular than it turned out to be, hardly anyone knows about it.
I think the downside is that you need java to run it ... I think.

On the plus side though, this tool is far faster than the standard upload tool:
You can select multiple images in just one go rather than having to open the browse file window on every occasion.
You don't need to select the number of fields either.
Jupload is able to resize/recompress images before uploading them, this is far faster than uploading a large file then having the server resize/recompress the image
In a sense, the jupload tool behaves in a manner similar to the MSN upload tool for MSN spaces and MSN groups etc.

HOW TO INSTALL:

copy the files from the zip file to your site
make a new folder inside album_mod/upload/ called jupload

HOW TO USE:

go to an album you want to upload in
press the upload button
retype the url to jupload instead of upload (not very proffessional I know, Ideally I'd like there to be an option in the standard uploader to change method)
Select the files you want to upload and try it out

Us Brits ought to stick together! (Joking everyone)... Well, with regards to this being noticed... it can be discouraging to have ideas and not get any response... the problem is, unfortunately it looks like XS could be coming to a halt soon, as you see in the announcement of MG leaving, and Bicet is not really being interested (so it seems) in keeping it going... So there isn't, as such, any planned future XS release, and consequently... any ideas etc for future mods are being shelved... However, MG is planning a future project like XS, based on phpbb3, so perhaps these ideas will be looked at again, when theres a stable enough release... In the meantime, theres nothing to stop us tweaking what we have, including trying out new mods like this!

Jarrod, in new FAP there is a feature called Album OTF which is allowing instant Multiple Uploads in the Album.

I won't install this mod in FAP or XS because it is requiring Java... while Album OTF I've created needs just an FTP client... plus you'll have a preview of the images. :wink:

Try it and let me know.

Well, you've got a point Mighty, there is the downside of you having to install java to use it, but on the plus side, if you already have it installed it's possibly the fastest way to upload photos.
Album_Otf is ok if you have ftp access (obviously I do to my own site, but I'm not passing that on to other people)

Hi Jarrod,
I was looking for something like this. I downloaded it, but it fails to work. It only shows a red X.
Any hints what it could be. I am running the latest browsers (FF2, IE7) and the latest Java JVM (1.5_9).
What can be going on?
