Had you selected the file or it was just when clicking the link?

Is your host cappable to upload files via HTML forms and/or linking scripts to a FTP server?

*Possible bug*

Juve,

Please continue posting about your problem in your old topic. There wasn't a need to create another topic about the same thing.

All we can say is please be very patient, especially right now due to the new release.

I think your problem is due to one or more of these:
  • You are using Vista and you are trying to upload files in not public folders
  • Your host doesn't allow uploading some files
  • You didn't apply the correct permissions to Icy Phoenix folders
  • You are trying to upload some fake images (check images headers and extensions)

MG

I´m using Vista aswell, and i don´t have any problems to upload pictures to here or any other site.

Normaly i keep the images in images folder but sometimes i got them in a more spezified folder , and still no problems.

That is more a hosting problem, cause i´ve tried to upload some images on his site and nothing happend. Just that message turned up.

Thing is, I´ve uploaded the exactly same images on my site without problems.

I've made personally some test on his site with an Admin account and I've also checked settings in his ACP without finding anything strange... :roll:
The attachments (for pictures) work well, while the "Upload image" function returns that error.
Maybe hosting issue?

Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
Try this and let me know what message do you have:

OPEN upload.php
FIND
Code: [Hide] [Select]
if(!in_array($extension, $types))
{
message_die(GENERAL_MESSAGE, $lang['Upload_File_Type_Allowed'] . ': ' . str_replace(',', ', ', $filetypes) . '.');
}

REPLACE WITH
Code: [Hide] [Select]
die($extension);
if(!in_array($extension, $types))
{
message_die(GENERAL_MESSAGE, $lang['Upload_File_Type_Allowed'] . ': ' . str_replace(',', ', ', $filetypes) . '.');
}

After you have the message you can restore the original file.

I can't test with Google Chrome because it doesn't allow me to log in, even if i delete the cookies...

No body knows? Is there any way to compare the ip_config table between two installations??

spydie [ Tue 28 Jul, 2009 10:57 ]
Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
Jep download one of them. open it localy and compare to the other one online

Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
But, Isnt there a comparission method? I think it's too big to compare manually... I think that in php there must be something to do this no?

You can always dump the tables you want, from all two DB, and then compare them with WinMerge, it's not the "best" solution, but it can work.

Danielc [ Wed 29 Jul, 2009 01:31 ]
Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
I did that... I haven't found any strange, just the gzip compression level, that now it is the same as the new installation..
Are there other tables that could produce this error, so i can compare those?

You can try to export your local "ip_config" table to your live site, obviously make a backup before.

Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
I tried, but it seems that there is a problem with PHPMyAdmin in my server... It never finishes the backup restore...

spydie [ Thu 30 Jul, 2009 01:24 ]
Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
Careful

Exporting the local ip_config table brings errors sometimes.

I tried that importing it from my hosting to my localserver, and guess what.

evrything since then went through my localserver.

Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
But, so, what's the problem?? No ideas?

spydie [ Thu 30 Jul, 2009 01:47 ]
Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
the problem is that in that table is some conection data saved, that has to be changed.
or it could be that when you run your local server, everything is been saved in your hosting-DB.

It seems to be a problem with the files... I just restored my database to my other installation, and it works...
Any idea?

That is really strange... and it should not happen.

The reason could be a missed DB entry... can you WinMerge the old with the new db to check if we come up with something that could help?

Free Hosting´s use to have problems.

Yes, you can't expect to get the same things you get from paid hosting. Anyways I use them. I would recommend you use 110mb or 000webhost. In 110mb you have to pay once to be able to use php and mysql. I use 000webhost because it's the most complete free host I've found. errors are rare with IP 1.3 and if you don't expect many visitors it's just fine.

Lopalong [ Tue 11 Aug, 2009 09:08 ]
Post subject: Re: Upload Image Problem
I've just set up and tested both FREE bytehost and FREE 000webhost and BOTH of them have restrictions and problems which prevent Icy Phoenix from running properly.

000webhost was particularly bad with the same image upload problem as described throughout this thread. And I don't care if it's paid for - They use the same servers whether it's free or not. ;)

I have tried to save myself AUS$128.00 a year by looking for a free host that WILL run IP with all the whistles and bells and I have yet to find one after testing many of them.

One in particular (Can't remember which one) has a modified sendmail that will only work with gmail accounts, and is no doubt an effort to gain them more revenue. :x

IMHO - Free hosts and Icy Phoenix are NOT A GOOD MIXTURE! :shock:

:mricy:
