Hi,

I want to show you a mod, a very useful mod.
Keep unread flags (by author of categories hierarchy).
  1. Keeps the unread flags for a topic active until the topic is read
  2. Activates new post feature for guests
  3. Keeps unread flag when disconnect

Mod desc. wrote:

The following are new features as a result of the upgrades in May 2005 and 2006:

1. Solves the bugs that sometimes gave a user an unread flag on
his or her own posts, sometimes gave a user an unread flag on other posts that
he or she had already read and sometimes caused a user to lose all unread flags.

2. Keeps unread flags beyond the current page of a topic until
the user actually visits that page.

3. Gives the user a new yellow button on each post (right next
to the quote button) that allows the user to mark the topic unread
again from that post onwards (a sort of bookmark function).

4. Changes text of unread post link that appears on index page so that
it reads "View your unread posts" or "You have no unread posts"
depending on whether or not the user has unread posts.

"This mod keeps the unread flags for a topic active until the topic is read.
It also activates the new post feature for guests.". But it do this too:
When u disconnect, you don't loose unread message.

Sometimes when I go on a board, I have not alot of time and I couldn't see all new message.
This mod keep unread message as unread.

Informpro,

If you visit your profile here at icyphoenix.com and set your preferences to UPI2DB and not cookies, please post the results when you log on from a different computer.

I've done both, and it's a possible BUG with the latest public version and updates that I have posted in another thread - So please post your findings there in that thread.

Merci!

Seems that it's only working for "new: " (I don't know, there is no new post :p), But no for other (I have see 3times, but when I go on IE it's mark as unread ("U: "))

And "mark all forums as read" don't working =/

I'll W&S for see if it's completly work ^^

Is there any possibility to set at UPI2DB by default ?

there ´s a general switch in configuration IcyPhoenix.

and another switch in unread messages

From what I can see - the UPI2DB global switch in the ACP assumes that UPI2DB is already on?

Problem is it's not! and the switches are out of sequence.

Db > ip_config > ('upi2db_on', '0'),

Change to 1

Then at least it will turn on and off in the ACP.

You still wont get in your preferences the option to turn it on or off because looking at the Db - every user has it "Hard" turned on by default. and no matter what you do you can't change those settings. Doesn't work anyway!

It's also better left for MG to sort this mess out.

Lopa!!

Are you aware of the second switch in Configuration-Unread Messages ??

There´s a hole bunch of options for UPI2DB

No mate I wasn't!

But I also don't feel bad about it because it also appears that I'm not the only one..

I went through the ACP twenty times looking for anything that matched UPI2DB - because the db was telling me that there were a whole lot of options somewhere that I couldn't find?

And I've wasted all that time because who the hell is going to associate "Unread Posts" with UPI2DB - when it SHOULD BE NAMED UPI2DB Configuration and then it just MAY be a little easier to find.

Yes, the possibility is in ACP lol ^^

"ACP > IcyPhoenix > SQL Optimization > [Disable UPI2DB globally
This option lets you disable UPI2DB globally thus saving extra memory.]"
