Post subject: Image / Thumbnail Issues

Hi,

My forum is acting a bit strange when trying to generate thumbnails for hot linked images using the [IMG] tags.

I recently moved the forum to a new web host and all went well. The only issue was some of the posts were showing the thumbnails and some were not.

I've tried over and over to get the settings correct as well as regenerate the thumbs, clear caches, etc. Doesn't seem to be cooperating at this point. Edit: Forgot to mention that the web host = hostgator.com

www.FishPWC.com is the domain.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

sounds like a server settings issue

have a look if allow_url_fopen is set to on

allow_url_fopen On On

What I don't get is some of them work, some did not... I've been going in circles trying to get it to work.

Yes, I tried that.

Where are the thumbnails stored when they're generated? Perhaps I can restore them as the old board is still at the old web host.

I should have figured that one out for myself... Sorry, the frustration is beginning to overwhelm my logic process.

I copied the thumbs from the old forum directory and I'm back to some working, some do not.

For instance:

This is a strange issue. I did read the support post about someone else having a similar problem and it was solved by doing something with the gallery's ??

hm

I´ve got my sites on the same hoster, and have no problems at all.

might have to do something with thumb size and album config

On the thumbnail images that are displaying correctly, I can right click on the thumbnail > Open image in new tab and it's there.

On the ones that are not displaying, the tab shows the following error:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /image_thumbnail.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Edit, just discovered another issue, I am also receiving this error when I try to move a post:

Could not insert data into logs table

I'm wondering if it would be better to just wipe everything out and start over at this point...?

I have all the files at the other web host and can download them. I have several backups, etc.

might be a good idea, to reupload everything, but do it in Binary Mode of your client

As of today, still having the same issues. I have started over on everything and it's still not working, same debug error when I try and move a post and same thumbnail issues.

I have changed the DNS back to the old host where the old board is located. I am going to do some testing there and see if I can figure out what's going on and why this is happening...!

FIND

REPLACE WITH

It's definitely something to do with the naming at this point, but I think it's DB related.

The DB is small as there isn't that many posts, but I do think it's corrupting something on import.

I'm going to try a few different things this weekend and see if I can get it working.
