Hi all.
We are approaching Christmas Night, and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
This year for me has been a very strange year... very tough under some aspects... but I can say that this has been a positive year after all.
phpBB XS project has been definitely closed. I left the project and Bicet seems like he doesn't want to bring things on on his own. I'm sorry for that, because I really had good times working on XS and with Bicet. But things changes... and we have to face our real life problems, we have to take care of our real work, family, hobbies and so on... that's because me and Bicet needed to switch off with XS.
As I said several weeks ago, I'm now focused on a new project. This project is now entering the beta testing phase... very soon I will release a beta version, so you all may start play around and see if you like it... give me some feedbacks, suggestions, and help me fixing the bugs.
The objective of this project is to provide a CMS based on phpBB. phpBB XS is more like a premodded... Area 69 (this is the temporary name of the project) even if based on phpBB XS for many aspects has evolved on the CMS side. Area 69 will have a brand new section focused on page creation and customization, and hopefully an easier panel to set and configure all the options. Nothing special has been added to the forum... only some few changes respect to phpBB XS. No ambitions for being as successful as other premodded... I'm doing it as an hobby...
I've also bought a new domain, and I'm finishing all the work in progress to move there... we will change home hopefully by the half of january.
Ok, I'll stop here for now... I would like just to wish you a Merry Christmas and inform you about these latest news... even if you don't see me here around, I'm working hard on the new project.
Merry Christmas to you and your families... and a Happy New Year!

So area69 is what's running on this site and last version of phpxs is what's running on mightygorgon.com? I don't see a lot of difference and I am a little confused over this... ;)
Thanks for everything you've done, XS is my fave phpbb project of all times!

Thank you all, I really appreciate! :mro:
Well... you'll immediately guess the differencies when the beta will be out.
Just some info:
I'm not saying that this is going to be better than phpBB XS... it is becoming a slightly different thing: I was a former developer of phpBB XS and this of course means that most of the old things are still there.
In January I should release a public beta, so you can test the package and decide if you like it or not.

Just some info:
- Area 69 is based on phpBB XS: this means that most of the features are shared between the two packages.
- mightygorgon.com is running an hybrid version... it is phpBB XS based, but with some modifications.
- Area 69 has a new more logical directory structure.
- Area 69 has extended CMS features.
- Area 69 has a new template almost W3C compliant (check the pages of this site).
- In Area 69 mods are more integrated than in phpBB XS.
- Some new enhancements...
