I use Editpad pro for coding php pages and dreamweaver for tpl files...

Dreamweaver is great for checking html code but I believe it saves files incorrectly....

any other good programs that do the same job but work better...?

Also here are some scripts I use to help in looking through files... (some are paid scripts but cheap)

Powergrep great for finding individual words or pieces of code just right click the folder and search all of its contents...

Winmerge allows you to compare to different files or even whole folders of files, great for checking errors... (and it is free)


extreme style mod (included in ICY) go to ACP/STYLES AND TEMPLATES/settings...

go down the page and find Add tpl filenames in html turn on... if you need to find a template file in the page you are viewing... Right click and view page source all the tpl files are now viewable and their names are hightlighted in green... just press ctrl and F to bring up a search box type in tpl and it will go through the page naming the tpl files on the page of your site...

(though while this is on and if anyone post on the forum it will make your site go blank.... ) I believe MG has fixed this error in latest Beta...

to fix the white page error if it occurs.. is to go to includes/def_tree and open..

look for at the top of the page and at the bottom... save and upload to site... posting will be unaffected.



Also you can edit tpl files live on your site (though should only be done by an experiance users)


Loads of other features included for templating or changing the layout...


Will add more as I come and across them....

Any other programs, scripts if you know of any please post here as I am sure there is possibly better ones

i like to program with notepad++ it simple and this only is useful to check the sintax...
