FAP SUPPORT - How To Prevent People From Uploading Pics To A Catagory?

Subject: FAP SUPPORT - How To Prevent People From Uploading Pics To A Catagory?
Hi Everyone

I am hoping this is easy enough to do. Lets say you have this structure:

- Pics Menu
-- Sub Menu 1
-- Sub Menu 2
-- Sub Menu 3

How do I prevent people from posting pics too 'Pics Menu'? So basically its just there as a holder for the menus of pics inside kinda like a category for a forum. I hope its just a switch I can turn on but I must have over looked it to make it so people cannot post to an area and still have access to the other areas underneath it.

Thanks

In your ACP>Photo Album>Categories, choose Edit for the Pics Menu category and you will see several options for cat permissions.
Just set the Upload Level to Admin..... this will block uploads to this cat only, for all regular users.

But I think he is right... if you block a category all the subcats will be locked as well for upload...

I didn't check this now, it is an old bug and I can't remember I've fixed it.

From what I can tell, permission levels on the parent cat have no affect on it's sub-cats.

I have a similar issue and I'm running what I think is the latest version 1.4.1.

But I have the same type of structure.

-Pics Menu (Category Permission Level: Upload - Admin)
--Sub1 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Private)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload)
--Sub2 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Private)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload)
--Sub3 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Private)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload)

The problem is Group1 is still not allowed to upload to anything except their own personal gallery.

If I do the following they are allowed to upload.

-Pics Menu (Category Permission Level: Upload - Reg)
--Sub1 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Reg)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload) - This now allows anyone registered to upload
--Sub2 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Private)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload) - This will not show up though
--Sub3 (Category Permission Level: Upload - Private)(Album Permission Level: Group1 is allowed to upload) - Same with this one

I would like to be able to only give members in my PHPBB Group1 access to upload instead of allowing any registered user access. Am I interpreting the permissions incorrectly? If so is there a guide to how th permissions work?

It seems the top level category permissions take priority over the sub categories. Is there a way I can do what I want to do with this?

Yes, that it is exactly what happens.

It has been notified a couple of time so far, but I still haven't solved it.

When I have some free time I'll have a look... unless Artie (or someone else) would like to have a go before me.

Ahh Thanks, I wasn't 100% sure because of the last comment on this thread before my post. Either way keep up the nice work it is an excellent feature. 8)

I thought I had it figured out, but my fix left the category drop down box (on upload page) empty of all except the current cat.
I have no hair left now, so I must halt any further attempts at a fix until it grows back :mricy:

I think your hair should have grown enough now to have a try! :P

I'm kidding my friend...
