Hi

I was wondering if there was a way (sorry if it has already been answered I could not see it) so that I can make my member have a personal gallery that everyone can see and another personal gallery that only members of a group can see at the same time....

I have been trying this out but I cannot seem to do it... basically members who are not in the group will not see the pictures but and icon or something shows that theey are there..

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get members to join groups and wanted to entice them with pics of members cars to do so but only be able to see them if they joined..that group

It is not possible for more than 1 personal gallery per user, but users can have sub-categories in their personal gallery.

You would need the main personal cat viewable to all, but should be able to set the sub-cat as private.


Here's a mod that will automatically create a sub-cat when a personal gallery is created.
It could be easily changed to make the sub-cat private, I would think.

Just an added question is it possible to use an image on a private gallery that for example says join this group to view pictures....

It may be possible, but I'm very busy trying to get my own site in order and don't have time to check into this right now.
When I get a chance, I will look into it.

It's not so easy doing this in FAP !

That is because groups permissions are not well coded.

I remember in the past that one users created something similar with a special modifications to phpBB usergroups...

Try to have a look at this:

But I'm not sure this will help in what you would like to achieve.

P.S.: since that discussion is quite old... if links are dead I may try looking into my archive... I should have these mods.

I have downloaded the 2 mods and will install them and see if I can get them to work how I want...

I tried the above mods but sadly they do not work they add the group to the database but will not show it for the album... so I couldn't get it to work...

I did try this mod which allowed me to make the personal cats private but then the user could not view their own sub cats...

Well using FAP (what a great mod) by itself I have managed to make the personal gallery of a user available to registered members and a personal sub category available to a particular group..

To do this click on new folder in your personal gallery and you get 2 options

1 to edit your personal gallery here you can set the permissions...I set this to reg...

2 option is to create another category which I gave permission as private....

goto your ACP/photo albums.personal album and make sure 'Who can view personal galleries by default' is set to REG then goto ACP/photoalbum/personal gallery and on the bottom section click the group that can view private personal galleries and thats it....

All I need now is to figure out how to show the link to reg members but when the click on the private album it asks them to join the group does anyone have any ideas on that...?

Great you managed to partially get what you needed...

Regarding this last request, you should first identify on which page the links you want to edit are located.

When you get them, you need to put there a condition that check if the user is a member of the group with special access or not... unfortunately I think the best and easy way for doing it is hardcoding groups ID.

If you point me to the link you want to modify, I can try to point you on the check you have to do to perform membership validation.
