is there any way i could add just a side menu to my existing black pearl style?
i don't want the portal or other features only the side menu.
Is this possible?

You need to alter template files to add a div or a table to your pages.
If you want the sidebar on all pages you need to edit overall_header and overall_footer, otherwise you need to act directly on the specific template file.
