Post counts aren't increased. I only just noticed because a new member, actually from here has been posting and under his name is still says that he has only made one post.

If I have to start over and loose members, forums and posts I've had since last March, I'd just rather not bother and find a more stable PHPBB without these problems or just give up altogether as there is no way I'm starting again from scratch and loosing all of that.

I really hope that Tom is able to help. :(

Why would this have happened? Any idea? Would it be because of the way it was installed? I just need to know who to blame and bury under my patio if these errors aren't fixed.

Claire, take it easy but... How can you say that is an xs' fault hwn you don't even have any access to your host?
And when you're the only one with so many problems?
I also have 2 small issues, but I have full control about it. You said you upgrade... but your bbcode is old... Perhaps other files have not been upgraded...

I'm not saying it IS their fault, when did I say that?

I don't know how to do what Tom said either so I guess unless my host can fix it, I'm pretty stuffed as I don't know what to look for or where.

Well, perhaps I misunderstood... but, You said more than once that you're thinking about switching your board because of your problems...

Oh OK fair enough. There was another I was moving to and they were going to transfer all of my data for me because I couldn't get the Games sorted out but now with this new release they work so I decided to stay. I haven't a clue what do to now though as nothing is going right.

Take it easy. I wouldn't go so far thinking about a fresh install yet. There are some possibilities that might be the cause of your problems.
First of all it seems that your database update from 04x to 058 didn't run correctly. So there might be some entries in your DB missing, such as the "count_users_posts" values in the FORUMS_TABLE. That alone could be the cause of many problems.
Second I thing there might also be some old files left, which haven't been replaced with new ones. That could also be the cause of many errors you might have.
Put those two togehter and it could explain ALOT of problems.
Third you have a XS version with additional MODs which could also cause problems I can not determine.

I think not everything is lost yet. However in order to confirm that, I'd need full access. That mean FTP, DB (mysqladmin) and ACP.

My host David set up the board and it's a right mess now.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been here for a few day as I was going crazy with all of the errors.

Before you give me all your data, here is what you should do or let your host do:

• Login as Admin
  
• Upload update_to_xs2.php to the root of the site
  
• Run update_to_xs2.php
  
• Use an FTP client to remove all files and folders, except:
  config.php
  album_mod/upload/*.*
  files/*.*
  images/*.*
  includes/*.*
  pafiledb/uploads/*.*
  templates/*.*
  
• Upload all new files (except config.php, install/*.*, contrib/*.* and includes/def_*.php) (set your FTP client to overwrite older files with the new ones)
  
• Reapply the correct permissions to files and folders as listed in readme_english.html
  
• Enjoy XS

With this procedure, you will have a clean XS installation, having removed all unused files from older versions.

One more thing: Apply all avilable patches before uploading the new files.
