Hello all,
My forum has recently suffered abuse (by me and also the host...) and an attack from persons unknown. It has errors in the script now that I'm not capable of fixing so I've decided to scrap it and start again, but would like to make the transition as inconvenient as possible for the users.
I'd really like for the users not to have to register again. Is it possible to put a copy of all the current user details into the new forum which has just been created. It would also be great if a copy of their photos in the album/personal albums could be copied across too.
Thankyou in advance for answers.

It's not too easy... but what you can do is importing the all site and db and eliminating all old posts...

Hi Kangura, if its only script errors you are worried about, you can just replace the existing phpBBXS directory you are using with a freshly unzipped phpBBXS. Be sure to transfer config.php from your old directory to the new one, and remove install and contrib directories, then lastly chmod the appropriate things (I wrote a script to automatically do the chmodding: http://www.phpBBXS.eu/viewtopic.php?p=4057#p4057)... Provided there aren't any mods, then everything should work well. If you do have mods, then any entires/fields it has made in SQL will just be ignored by XS anyway. If you have any special themes - then transfer the directory of the theme across to the new release/templates folder.
Good luck!

Hi Guys and thank you very much for the good advice here.
I'm happy to say that my forum is healthy again thanks to the efforts of Difus :mrblue: :mrorange: :mryellow:
I'll stop being a mad professor treating it like a guinea pig  and will use the advice here to install a working copy of it on my local HD...
