Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?

Subject: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
That is my question.. The "newest" files (lightbox.js and lightbox.css) are smaller, but they aren't used.. ¿Why?

Because the new version is having problem with IE... and unfortunatly IE still exists.

That's so true :x
But if they still exist I suppose there is ( I didn't look myself ) a kind of switch for IE users and others one ? ( Like " For IE users, use these .js and for other users use these one " ). *sigh* Anyway Microsoft likes to do things apart the world for trying to prove they are the pseudo-best ...

Old Lightbox still works fine... and then I have replaced it by HighSlide even if I left Lightbox for the nostalgic...

Subject: Re: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
I like highslide, but i don't use it because it's not free for me.. I have advertisement in my page, and in the highslide page, they say that its not free for "comercial" websites, and for them, my website is comercial (advertisement)..

Subject: Re: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
Having ADS is a very different thing from having a commercial site.

A site is commercial when your main goal is to sell something...

I think you can use HighSlide.

Subject: Re: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
Yes, but in the highslide site, they say that if you sell advertisement, your website is comercial..

This is a piece of the Highslide page:

What is a commercial website?

A commercial website is a website which purpose is generating revenue or cash flow of any type, and that isn't under a non-profit organization. So if you're selling a product, selling advertisement, selling a service or just marketing a commercial business, your site is commercial. A company website is also commercial even if it doesn't sell anything, as it's purpose is to front a commercial company.

Try to write to the author and ask.

I don't think that having AdSense (for example) will change the purpose of a website to a commercial site.

Subject: Re: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
I will do that.. Thanks..

Subject: Re: Why Is Lightbox_old.js Used Instead Of Lightbox.js?
Selling advertisments is not the same as using adsense, I think they mean that you make a profit with it, and adsense in most of the cases don't even fulfil the server bills... I think there will be no problem, but just ask and tell us for ensuring ;)

Greets!

Hi..
Torstein Hønsi have answered me (the script's creator). It was a positive answer xD.. This is the email he sent to me:

Quote:
Hi Daniel,

Thanks for writing! Usually I say it depends on whether the purpose of the site is to create revenue. If the ads are only to pay for the hosting and domain, I'd say it's non profit.

Best regards,
Torstein Hønsi

It means i can use the script in my page!!!!
I will enable it!.. Thanks everybody..
