Where do we post feature requests? I didn't see a topic or forum to do this so I'll do my first in this post:
I would really like to have the option to have more "recent topics" blocks on the portal index. It would be handy if you have different types of forums. Like here it could be a Icy Phoenix recent topics block and a Full Album Pack ditto. There is a thread on how to do this in Smartors EZportal forum; http://smartor.is-root.com/viewtopic.php?t=11715
Feature Request.
Subject: Re: Feature Request.
With a vanilla EZportal, yes. I got it to work with 2 blocks but not the third. I dunno at what "stage" in the thread I jumped in though, I know it evolved and got slightly corrected along the way. I just think it would be a really nice feature for "Icy Portal"! =)

In Icy Phoenix is even more simple... add as many RECENT TOPICS BLOCKS as you wish in your portal... each block has now its own configuration vars.
Try and let me know. :wink:

Do you mean adding one in portal_body.tpl or is there a way to do this in ACP?
Come to think of it I can't see any portal management at all in the ACP?

Nevermind.. I found the "edit this page" link on the portal index. Wow, that's like the best part of IcyP and I managed to miss it! =)
BTW, before I forget; If you click "delete" on a block and then choose 'no' you are taken to Home » CMS » Site Pages instead of 'Blocks Management'. No biggie but I thought I should mention it.
A couple of questions about Block Management.
1. If I want to make one of the blocks global, do I just create a new block in "global blocks", call it the same as the block from the portal page and use the same 'Block File'? Or is there another way?
2. How do I set what forums the 'recent' block shows? I added another block and chose 'recent topics' in the "Block File:" drop-down. I gave it the name Recent Support and clicked 'yes' for the "Show Titlebar:" option. It works, I now have two recent topics blocks. But they show the same topics. Did I do this right or should I have created my own template for a new Block File first? Or do I just need to edit something?
3. If I don't want one of the blocks on the Portal index but on the Forum index. Do I just disable it in the Block Management in the "3_column.tpl" and then create a new one in Global Blocks using the same template? Or is there an "easier" way?
4. Same as above, only I want to show it on both portal AND forum index. Do I do the same and just enable both?

I edited question number 1, as it somehow "fell off" from my original post.
On further inspection I notice that I must have done something wrong with the second 'recent topics' block as it shows the topics twice (i.e. 20 topics instead of 10).
Oh, and I have another question to add to the list;
5. Is there a way to edit what the recent topics block shows in the block? I just want the topic title to show. I don't want the line to break, so if the topic title doesn't fit in the block it would be cut off with three dots. So a recent topics block for the 'Documentation & How To' forum would look like this;
. [ Recent Help Topics: ] .
View newest post Poll No none a...
Problem With Google Keyword -...
Reduce CPU Charge On Server ...
Mail Spammers list and spam us...
Fatal error: Allowed memory siz...
How would I go about to do that? Edit the actual block file?

I've modified some blocks and some steps while creating new blocks.
Please wait a new public beta and then post again if your issues are not yet solved. :roll:

I think a tutorial on how to create and manage blocks should be top priority as one persons logic (MG et al) is not always the same as someone else's (lowcrust et al). After all as I see it this CMS part of Icy Portal is the biggest update from XS.
Also, what's up with the rolleyes? Is this not a warrented discussion?

I think you have misunderstood my post... I didn't mean to be rude at all.
Like any beta package, this too is lacking of documentation: a tutorial and a good documentation on how to create and customize block is on my top priority list... there are some posts about this in the private section...
One of the reason because I'm not releasing a new package is the lacking of docs... and I won't release a new version until at least a good how to will be written about the CMS. But you can't write an HOW TO if you don't have a final release before, because things are still changing.
As I said, you should wait the final release... that's because the roll eye. I don't have the time to make one to one support for the beta... and I've mentioned it in my latest news.
If you need something stable and with good docs, you should look for some other product: I have few free time and I'm putting my best effort to this project, but I have also my private life to take care.
