Post [help] IcyPhohenix .httaccess & User Poste Images

Finally I have installed IcyPhoenix after I have bought a first level shared hosting.

First of all thank to MG, I have strongly tested this forum and in my humble opininion it's the best premodded now available!!!There are some resons ... but I will open new 3d where I will give my positive feedback and explain my personal experience.
Luca you are awesome

Second, after I have correctly installed and configured Icy on my server I have tried to activate PostImage button but when I have tried to use it nothing appers and only "empty thumbail" appears ... after some tests my conclusion is that the problems was generated by .httacces files and when I have removed it from /files/ and /files/posted_images I have solved.

Be informed that I have done Icy installation and all test withouth error, I'm using aruba hosting service and .httaccess is supported by this server, and that the attachment function work fine.

Now my question is, can I remove .httacess from a directory that have permission set to 777 ? It's safe ?
And If not, how shall I write to .httaccess to make it work properly on my server ?

Thank in advance for the help.

- Mirko

Please be patient... don't up your own post, as soon as someone is able to help you... he will!

I personally read all the posts here, and I'll answer when I have time... if support is still needed...

Regarding HTACCESS it is not a fault of Aruba, the problem is HTACCESS inheritance, which I've studied a bit, but I've never obtained good results...

Even if you have 777 it's not a matter of HTACCESS being protected or not. HTACCESS for attachments is needed to limit access only via PHP requests so that files cannot be downloaded directly if you know the full name.

Personally I think that it is really difficult that someone will guess the name of you attachments and download them without permissions... because attached files have a filename with a random 3 digits at end...

As an alternative, if you want to keep your HTACCESS in files folder, you can change the path for thumbnails in constants.php and album_constants.php and move those folders outside files.

P.S.: Thanks for your compliments !
