Hail,
As a first time user, I just downloaded the recent release of Icy Phoenix a couple days ago. I am very pleased with this CMS and like it better than Joomla, Drupal and several others I have used over the past few months. So thank you (the community) and the owner for this great CMS.
The only difficulty I am having with the CMS is finding how to submit news articles to the front page of my website. I will explain a few details and ask relevant questions so you can understand my thought process and what actions I'm trying to take.
Intuitively, I click on News>New Messages to create a new message on my site. "No posts met your search criteria" is displayed on the resulting page. I click on the "New" link on the top navigation bar and it also leads to the same page, same message. Is this page that I am navigating to supposed to show new forum posts instead of the new articles I wish to create?
Realizing this is obviously not the path to create a news article, I go back to the homepage and click on Main Links>CMS. On the following page, Site Pages, I click on the "3 Columns" link since that is the layout of my site. I then choose "Add Block" and conclude that I must choose the right option for the Block File type?
I've tried the 'news [News]' option and one others one, but neither of them displayed news on my home page.
So I go to ACP to check out my site configuration. I have news posting enabled. The News Mod Index File is named index.php by default. The other options are also default. However, the News Mod Base URL field is blank.
Doing a search for all files named index.php in my website and trying to isolate which file is the file this path should point to is not intuitive to me, so I have left it blank for now.
In a few other CMS I have tried, there is also an option to display a forum post on the front page, with an option to display only a summary followed by a "read more" link. Is there a module or setting for this as well?
Not knowing where else to look, I tried finding this info here on your forums but I haven't had any luck yet. So please forgive me for asking such an easily answered question, but I've spent some time on it and it is unfamiliar to me.
Any help would be appreciated. My website URL is h**p://optera.org. You are welcome to visit and test.
