 SOLVED - How Do I Add More New Smilies?
I got a bunch of smilies that I can add to my forums that my members want me to add to the site, but I'm not sure how to do this. Please help.

Yea, but what do you do from there. I didn't get what I had to do. I go down to add smily but yet I can't add a new one =/

Add the smilies to root/images/smiles and then go to the ACP
Better to name the new ones with the same prefix 1giggle, 1bashful etc, as it will make them a lot easier to find among the other ones.

So I have to basically, save all the smilies on my comp, upload them to my FTP in the place you told me too, then go to the ACP and then add them there... ._.
Why can't you just add an img from a host site, put the url the ACP and click save xD

Some forum software does allow one to upload an image from their PC. Either way the image has to be uploaded before the database will process it.
phpBB has a few? MODS (or used to) available for smilie-handling, but they don't take any of the work out of adding smilies, they simply make it a more complicated process.
Do it the hard way - It's more fun!

I just have problems using the FTP, one time I tried adding a skin, I couldn't do it.... One time I did something and I couldint get it to work and somehow all the files were deleted...
But I'll guess I'll do it this since it's the only way you can....

G'Day Mate,
I always recommend that one should have two forums, and use one only as a test site for all these sort of things while they are learning the ropes, FTP or otherwise.
It may take a little more time to do something, but it's better than breaking and fixing the Main forum when that screws up.
If you want me to add the smilies for you - Zip them up and PM me your FTP details and the file.

I don't have a test site.... dunno how to get one, I guess I would need another domain and use up more hosting... But yea... I don't have a way of paying for a domain xD

It's simply another folder on the domain you have called something different to your main forum - "Test" for example, and you would need to install a second copy of IP to that folder along with its own database.
If you are using Windows XP - Vista etc, then you could install a local server on your own PC using XAMPP, and install Icy Phoenix to that, and do all of your testing on your own box. ?
It's also a good way to learn server protocol.
