Left Menu In Forum.

Subject: Left Menu In Forum.
I just downloaded and started to use Icy locally to test it out and get to know it as for now, but can't figure out how to enable the same menu an the left side in the forum as the forum here. Can anyone give me a simple guide?

You have at least two different ways to achieve this.

First:
  • Create a global block using the dyn_menu block with the correct menu_id in CMS => Global Blocks
  • Go in CMS => Standard Pages and enable Global Blocks visualization for forum.php

Second:
  • Go in CMS => Standard Pages and edit blocks for forum.php
  • Create a block using the dyn_menu block with the correct menu_id

Thanks.
Made it work. Have been using Joomla for a long time so I guess I'm going to use some time to get uses to Icy, but I really like the concept.

Thanks again for a quick reply.

I hope you like way Icy Phoenix manages blocks and pages, it's quite different, but I think it's intuitive.

Since you are also a Joomla user, you may provide some feedbacks on a comparison between the two system if you wish.

Sure. I'll test it side by side with Joomla and try to give feedback here. Anyway, I'm so far impressed with Icy. Just have to get into the way it works. Some of the info here are a bit too "high" for a first time user. Would have been nice with some doc. that show at least the basic as a step by step guide.

I now are trying to find out if my users on Joomla can be imported to Icy. If that is possible, then I most likely would change to Icy on one live site as a test.

you should have a look in the Doc“s section

nearly everything is explained there

You may want to try using this tool:

CONVERSION - Import Users From CSV File Or Other Software (phpBB 2, phpBB 3, WordPress, Joomla, vBulletin)

Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for.
