first thing ever is before! doing any changes, is make an backup
BTW. just download the XS package and add the pages you have deleted by hand or compare it using winmerge -> http://www.winmerge.org
you can block in the ACP risk file endings f.e. .exe files. And i don“t know an antivirus MOD ATM.

Good point... in regard to the threat of uploading php files or a "virus" to hack your site, attachment mod can be configured to disallow php and php3 files... the thing though, which makes attachments mod not as secure as the pafile db downloads mod, is that pafiledb md5sums the file, and assigns that as the filename when saved on the server upload directory. This is so that if somone was able to upload a php file, they'd have absolutely no idea what name it has been given to it, and so unable to run it on your site. I think thats a nice solution to that particular problem, rather than blocking something outright, and attachments mod can to be hacked to do the same... so you could then allow people to upload a php file if you are discussing script development. A server-side virus checker would be incredibly resource consuming. If you had a just a few people wanting to download files, it'd bring your server to a standstill... whilst it searches through pattern lists looking for a match in every bit of data... (you see what its like running a virus checker on your own computer)... so I guess for that reason, there isn't a php script to do it... (at least I've not come across one)... I am suprised theres no javascript to do it though.... since this would be a client side operation.

Go to ACP>>IMPortal / Portal >> Blocks management. Select default page (probably called 3 column layout), and you should see a list of all the blocks that are shown on home page. Select the welcome block. You have a text area where you can enter what you want (including html code) - fill this with what you want. Go down to the block file menu, it will have something like "welcome"... set it to none, otherwise the text entered above it will be replaced by the block file.
If you deleted it, it doesn't matter, its dead easy to create one from scratch. On the page where the blocks are listed, at the bottom is add block. Select that, and create your new block, calling it what you want (e.g. welcome), and filling it out as said above. Also set show border, title, etc to yes (the four check boxes, 1 up from the bottom).
*Edit* You need to position the block, on the block creation page, at the top, set Block Position: Center. Then once created, you are taken to the lock list page. You need to position it there, using move up / move down. Play with it to see what happens.
