Subject: Show Off Of The Month #1
We're ready to begin taking nominations for our first Show Off Of The Month contest!

If you know of a website using Icy Phoenix that features outstanding graphical design, nominate that website to be considered for our Show Off Of The Month! The staff will be taking nominations for websites that have a certain graphical genius to them. We will then select the best three nominated websites and vote anonymously on the absolute best!

The winning website will:

  • Receive a special graphic from Icy Phoenix to display on their website showing their website was voted the best!
  • Gain access to the Special Guests group!
  • Have their website featured in our Links section!

As with any contest, there are special rules:

  1. One website nomination per user.
  2. The nominated website must be using Icy Phoenix. Any nominated website found not using Icy Phoenix will be disqualified.
  3. Proper credits must be intact in the website footer. "Powered by Icy Phoenix based on phpBB", "Design By ----".
  4. Winning websites may not enter the contest again. Nominated websites that do not win are allowed to resubmit their site for nomination the following month.
  5. Websites with default, untouched styles from Icy Phoenix should not be nominated. This contest is based on graphical design.
  6. All nominated websites must be using Icy Phoenix version .27c, 1.3.x, or higher. (Starting in September, only versions 1.3 will be allowed to enter the contest.)
  7. Please submit a short description about your website when posting your nomination. The nominated websites will be featured in the Hot or Not section of the website so users are allowed to rate them. (These ratings DO NOT indicate the winner in any shape, form, or fashion.)
  8. When submitting the website to be nominated, you must include six screenshots of the website. The screenshots should feature different parts of the website customizations. The screenshots should be uploaded using our upload form (uploaded directly to Icy Phoenix). All images must be stored on Icy Phoenix using the Upload feature.

TheSteffen created a small graphic for the winner of each contest:

The contest is now officially open, so start nominating! We will allow two full weeks of nothing but nominations. Post your nominations in a separate post in THIS TOPIC. After two weeks, the Staff will review all nominated websites and submit their votes for best graphical design. The winner will be announced after voting!

Here is mine:

URL: http://knekz.site40.net / http://knekz.tk
Description: Don't really know, just a site for friends to be and talk about almost everything. I just made it because we didn't want to have a fakebook like most shallow people on my school.

The outlines on the first screenshot show where are tables so you can see the main layout is made with divs instead of tables :)

The last screenshot shows the flexibility of the style (it adjusts it's width according to the resolution)

Sorry for the delay!

It's a W.I.P, I am still the same white:

If you pass on any of the menu, appear in the sections.
The User menu is only visible to those who have logged.

Overall Footer:

Then most of the site is tableless, the home page and the index of the Forum to 100%.

I used the "techniques" css in order to improve the page load and reduce the size. Just look at the image that forms the outline of the blocks is done with an image (http://www.makingart.org/templates/makingart/images/ma/tbl.gif).

I'm continuing on the local, but I do not have much working time to dedicate.

I did all right and risking disqualification.

From the looks of your website, you will not be disqualified as long as all contest rules are followed. 8)

I apologize for not making this clear and that is totally my fault.

All nominated websites must be using Icy Phoenix version 1.3 or higher. I mentioned something along those lines in this topic, but it wasn't crystal clear:

Show Off Of The Month Contest

Again, version 1.3 or higher. 8)

Isn't that a little unfair? Older versions are still Icy Phoenix after all and the template system is quite different in 1.3 so it takes time to adapt the styles. I'm already updating to 1.3, but I think other versions should also be accepted, just as a suggestion.

The whole point of this contest was to encourage users to create new style designs for the next version of Icy Phoenix for all to see. In that respect it's fair. If the contest was for current and past versions of Icy Phoenix, the contest would have started months ago.

As I said earlier today, not being crystal clear in what versions were allowed is my fault so please place the blame all on me. The Staff are playing with the idea of allowing past and current versions of Icy Phoenix just this one time due to all the confusion. If that is allowed, the next contest will be strictly based on Icy Phoenix versions 1.3 and higher and it will be clearly posted.

We'll update everyone on the decision as soon as it's made.

Thanks for being patient!

My theme is tested by Beta 1 at 1.3 Stable. In location is tested in everything! Online I have the RC2, which hasn't got changes from Stable.

Does this mean that styles upgraded from previous versions are exempt from entering the competition as far as the rules in future will allow?

Subject: Re: Show Off Of The Month #1
If the style is upgraded, the style is new.

Subject: Re: Show Off Of The Month #1
The Staff have talked it over and we've decided to allow Icy Phoenix versions .27c and 1.3 in this contest for two months. Starting in September, only Icy Phoenix version 1.3 will be allowed to enter the contest.

We have also updated the main contest rules, so please read the first post in this topic again and feel free to go back and edit your posts!
