Upgrade From PHPBB2

Subject: Upgrade From PHPBB2
Hello, I tried today to move my phpbb3 forum into Icy Phoenix 1.3. I read there is no simple way to do it, so i tought about converting to smf, then to phpbb2 and at last to Icy Phoenix. Basically it works (i don't care about errors with bbcode tags or avatars or password to be reseted) and i have a fully working phpbb2 forum... BUT when i pass it to icyphoenix latest version using the "phpbb upgrade" instructions what i obtain is an empty forum with just topics/posts count but no posts. There are old_phpbb_posts/topics tables in the database but nothing is passed in the phpbb_posts/topics tables.

Any help would be appreciated.

try going to ACP-configuration-quick setting´s

select an option and see if the post´s apear afterwards

Hmmm can't even login with my username ATM. Tried "forgot password" option and after activating it by mail i still cannot login. Tried to register a new user and got

Have you tried to check the /cache folder?

BTW, can you confirm there are no posts on the DB by using a non phpbb powered/based DB manager?

That forum you are showing us has been downgraded from phpbb3 throught smf or updated from phpbb2?

Using phpmyadmin it shows phpbb_posts (that's icyphoenix current table) with 0 rows while _old_phpbb_posts has 46577. The forum steps were PHPBB3 => SMF 1.1 => PHPBB2 => Icyphoenix (using the instructions from homepage). Until PHPBB2 step all was working fine, now with IP errors here and there and no topics/posts :(

Perhaps it has been a "Server has gone away" without a rollback then?

Phpbb3 series uses a different password engine than phpbb2 series, becase of the advantage of adding salt to the MD5 password hash. Perhaps converting from phpbb3 to smf and to phpbb2 did not revert correctly the MD5 salting. Try checking your MD5 hash (the stored password) on the DB is what it should be ;) . It should have no slts on it, so there are many tools that will give you the plain hash you need to check for.

Probably doing the downgrade to smf did not make the login cookie useless, so you could interact besides you could not login again with user/password.

Yeah i know that, but it doesn't explain why the password recover (that should reset it, with the correct salt) doesn't work. Anyway it seems related to the new 1.5.0.53a patch, without that as far as i can see it works. Still i have no posts or topics converted and wonder why. Will try to manually join the old_phpbb tables to the icyphoenix one...

Edit: Manually imported all posts, fixed 90% of broken bbcodes etc etc. Now another problem comes up, activating Forum [News] block the following error comes up @ homepage

If you do have time, get bazaar and download the source code for 1.2 latest stable from lp:/icy-phoenix/1.2-stable

I do not know of any issues with the converter at that version.

Then upgrade to 1.3.

That repo is about 100 MB of size and if contains copies of all the 1.2 files on the website. But it is not longer supported, so upgrade to 1.3 when you get to work 1.2 (if you manage to)

If you are intrested on this and if you need help n order to get bazaar or to get the contents just post the issues and your OS if it is a bazaar download/install issue
