This place has far too much spam and no-one is doing anything to help prevent it. :censored:

spam

And it's about time something is done about it - Because coming here just to read SPAM posts is becoming another reason NOT to come here.

Well Mort I'm sure you know how we deal with spam reports and unreported spam.

This zibiwen user got me alittle confused, I wonder how it can be that he made new posts without showing up to me as new posts :?:
But while i was dealing with a few others TheSteffen took care about that one :P .. thanks

Preventing spam is really upto MG but the reason why it's not done yet must have something to do with being user friendly

(right now I'm still watching 3 users, waiting for them to prove my suspicions to be right)

Subject: Re: 99% Spam Posts At IP.com
This matter has been brought up before but MG seems to be pretty reluctant to put any Spam-Blockers in place for whatever reason and I really can't understand why?

There are a few spam-blockers that could be in place, and I'm sure that genuine new members would understand why these things are necessary?

:P

100% agree

Subject: Re: 99% Spam Posts At IP.com
Guys, I have tried several spam block service in the past, and none of them were working flawless.

I used to receive several emails by users being not able to register and I got tired, so I removed any "centralized" spam check, because spam evolves and you are not going to find a way to block them all.

Every antispam measure has a downside... I'm not willing to ban a whole range of IP just because they are listed somewhere... even myself cannot register on some websites because of such measures, and I honestly got even more annoyed.

If you really feel unconfortable with spammers you should avoid having an internet connection.

You might block Spam-bot´s with captcha or a security question, but i don´t think you´ll ever get to block all Human spammers

Subject: Re: 99% Spam Posts At IP.com
I have enabled some blacklists... let's see if situation improves in the next month.

As soon as I get an email from a user not being able to register, I will disable that.

My friend there is an X-number of posts or X-days MOD before URL's that could be used that I'm sure could instruct new genuine users to enter URL's like so. [icyphoenix.c o m] until they qualify to add full Url's.

It will certainly kill robots. ;)
