Subject: XS News Ticker
Hi Everyone

Is there a step-by-step instructions on how to use this.

I enable it and I see text scrolling. But no matter what .xml or .rss http link I put in the 'XML News Feed' box it gives me the error 'Unable to open the XML input: <site address>'.

Example of the line in the XML News Feed box:

Unable to open the XML input: http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/National.xml

Not sure what is going on?? I can go to that link with RSS reader and it reads it just fine. Am I missing another setting or have to edit a file?

Thanks

No one can provide any help on this? Or least just point me in the right direction to a forum thread. I have tried searching and cannot find my issue anywhere.

Thanks

Not sure what to check besides the news ticker config? My screen matches yours exactly and I still get that error:

'Unable to open the XML input: http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/National.xml'

Is there anything else I need to configure or edit to get these feeds too work?

Here are some screenshots of my config and setup so far:

I would to use this topic for a question to MG... it is possible to cache the content of the ticker to speed up the site? If you insert a ticker from a slow site, you will have a very big increment on page loading. What do u think about it?

try to set all to yes at news ticker config

Subject: Re: XS News Ticker
FWIW: I experienced the same error (different feed), but it went away on a page refresh.

I tried putting all the options to 'yes' in the configuration and all it did was add those headings.

I still receive those errors on the rss feed. I have tried a few feeds with the same result. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or if there is a .tpl or .php file thats corrupt or needs to be edited.

I could even make a user with permission to look around at everything if need be I just want to see what i'm doing wrong. I'm very new to the whole portal scene so I'm not very knowledgeable yet on this subject but learning...

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Ok Zuker

I have tried moving the XS_News block (which is in the center) up and down each position and refreshing the view a few times at each position and still the same result.

If you need more permissions to play around with that moderator acct let me know.

are you running icy 1.0.9.9?

Subject: Re: XS News Ticker
Yes I am 1.0.9.9 and I saw that there was a security update that came out today I was going to apply that tonight. But in the notes it wasn't stated that the fixes touched the xs_news.

That moderator user has access to the style manager so you can view/edit the files in the template if that helps with troubleshooting. This is a fresh install as of Sat/Sun whenever 1.0.9.9 came out and I don't remember there being any issues when uploading the files to my server.
