Icy Phoenix

i have icyphoenix the last version 1.2.0.27

that is running with Versión de phpBB: 2.0.23

a friend said me that how is phoenix is based in phpbb version, then i must to used the convertor that have phpbb3 for to convert icyphoenix to phpbb3.

in this moment, i have created two sites,

site a) is a copy exactly of my icyphoenix in other part of my server (and running perfectly).
site b) in this site i have installed phpbb3

then, i use the convertor for to convert my icyphoenix to phpbb3, but when i used this, apperead a wrong, this wrong is this:





phpbb3 have the option to use again the convert and show this options

- new convert
- continue previously started convertion

obvius when i try to "continue previously started convertion" appeared again the wrong.

a men of phpbb.com said me this



i searched in my language default (of my forum where i have icyphoenix) the file lang_main.php but in this file i don't find a line with $lang_encoding or lang_encoding i try to search in others files but never i find this lines..

for this and how this forum is about icyphoenix, i need that somebody help me to solved this wrong.
if somebody has converted icyphoenix to phpbb3 I would be grateful to him that he can explain me as he did it.

and i would like to know if exist other form to convert icyphoenix to phpbb3

i am going to search again a possible solution, and next i said us about this convertion

in my files of icypehonix i change for

$lang['ENCODING'] = 'UFT-8';
$lang['ENCODING_ALT'] = 'UFT-8';

But when i try to continue the "convertor", appeared the same wrong



some idea?

Downgrade first Icy Phoenix to phpBB 2.0.23 and then upgrade to phpBB 3

The only way I know is downgrading IP to phpBB 2 using clean_tables (you can find it @ phpbb.com as well) and then overwrite IP with phpBB 2 files.

Finally you can convert it to phpBB 3.

I converted icyphoenix to phpbb 2.0.23 without problems, but now I'm trying to convert to phpbb3 and everytime I got the "General Error - Unknown Encoding".

Using the guides I changed the encoding in language_main_settings (both english and italian folder, that's my language installation), but I couldn't solve the problem. Any ideas how can I solve it?

I've already converted another phpbb2 database to phpbb3, and I've no problems, so I ask me if it's a problem of the icyphoenix conversion.

Another question: in my icyphoenix forum I had subcategories, but in phpbb2 there aren't, so I can't see the posts under sub-categories when I open the forum in phpbb2... any solution?

You have to move all subforums to root level before downgrading.

Otherwise you won't be able to access all sections.

There is no direct upgrade, you need first to downgrade to phpBB 2... and then upgrade to phpBB 3.

The script to do that is linked in several posts in this forum.

It is called phpbb_clean_tables_XXX.zip, try to search here or @ phpBB.com you will find it for sure.

I don't quite understand the downgrading part,
I'm using the latest Icy phoenix, isn't that already using phpbb2 ?

Even if Icy Phoenix is based upon phpBB 2 it has a really different DB structure, this means that a standard upgrade procedure to phpBB 3 won't work properly (because of the differences in the DB).

You need at least to make the common tables (common tables between phpBB2 and Icy Phoenix) to be identical before being able to make any type of conversion.

Currently the only way is to remove all columns and special fields from Icy Phoenix tables using the suggested script.
