Post subject: FAP SUPPORT - How To Switch From Smartor To FAP?

Hi there, I got a fansite up and running:

Using the Smartor's Album.
However, I think I want to switch to FAP but I really don't know if it's worth the trouble.

So what I wonder is this:

How much work would this entail? As you can see I'm using a modified (I modified the template myself) version of Smartor's Photo Album.

Do I have to redo all the work and will I loose all the picutres / albums + descriptions when I migrate to FAP? If not, what to I do to avoid this?

You will not loose any pictures / albums or anything.

just download the package and follow the installation guide included :mricy:

As jz correctly stated, you will not loose anything..... but remember to BACK UP YOUR FILES AND DATABASE before you attempt this.

You will most likely have to modify your template files to get the look you want, but should not be any problem for you at all, since you have some prior experience with this.

Upgrading from Smartor's, you will basically reverse the install procedure removing the album files and phpBB file edits (ignore anything database related) ... you will need the images files in the album_mod/upload folder

Edit the required phpBB files per FAP install.
Copy over FAP's files, CHMOD those required .... make sure to copy back your image files to the album_mod/upload folder
Run fap_install.php

I really do, however there is one thing I wonder about...

I stumbled upon a nice add-on to photo albums not too long ago which I really liked.

What I wonder is if this effect is possible to get in FAP?
